October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month, a time to honor survivors, raise awareness, and recognize the people and organizations working every day to help individuals and families find safety, support, and hope.
Here in Maine, we are grateful for the domestic violence resource centers across the state, including the Wabanaki Women's Coalition and those working under the umbrella of the Maine Coalition to End Domestic Violence. These trusted community partners provide critical advocacy, safety planning, shelter, support, and other services to survivors and their families during times of crisis and beyond.
At Saint Andre Home, our role is often to help extend that support. Through our wrap-around services, we work alongside survivors as they continue their healing journeys, helping address needs such as food, clothing, transportation, mental health counseling, peer support, connections to community resources, and other barriers to greater stability.
This month, we honor survivors, thank our community partners, and reaffirm our commitment to helping build safer, stronger futures for individuals and families across Maine.
