We are sad to announce that KIWANIS member Brian Arthur Worcester (63) left this world unexpectedly on June 24, 2026 at Northern Light Eastern Maine Medical Center. He was born January 2, 1963, at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth, Maine to Richard V. and Maureen E. Worcester.
Brian graduated from Brewer High School, class of 1981. After completing high school, Brian attended Husson College during which time he worked multiple customer service jobs developing a love for his community. He completed his bachelor’s of Science in Accounting in 1986.
Throughout Brian’s life he held several positions where he provided support to his family, friends, and community members to assist in making decisions that would help protect their family and home. At the time of his passing, Brian was employed by Quirk Insurance where he developed many life long friendships.
Brian’s greatest joy was being with his family. He was known for giving his time, love, and attention to his nieces and nephews as well as all the greats that have come from them. He could often be found holding babies, playing ball, and teaching the “perfect techniques” for throwing a baseball. He was also great to have at tea parties and sing-alongs. He taught us the importance of “good ketchup” and that it could go on “literally anything”. But more importantly he taught us the power of kindness towards others and towards ourselves.
Brian was an avid New England sports fan. He could often be found cheering on his favorites, loyally during each game. He made several trips with his nephews to Foxborough to cheer on his beloved Patriots. His love for sports often overflowed into late night chats with those he loved.
Brian often gave selflessly of himself by donating to local youth charities especially the sports teams. His generosity didn’t stop there. He was always up for providing emotional support to those in need and he developed many friendships because of his generous heart and caring nature.
Brian had a great love for animals and jokingly at times called his home a sanctuary for all critters. He was known for taking his pets for long car rides, often stopping at a drive-thru. He frequented these places so often that they knew his furry friends by name and had special snacks set aside for them.
Brian was a wonderful caring son, grandson, brother, uncle, and friend to many. He is survived by his sister, Teresa Hurlbert and her husband Wayne and their children. Melissa Reid and her significant other Adam Jones, Matthew Hurlbert and his children Matthew, Mason, and Jordan, Mark Hurlbert and his wife Sarah and their children Mark and Maddox, Mandy Wallace and her husband Dicky and their children Kegan and Maci. He is also survived by his dear friends, Mark Dalton, Pete Wells, John Webber, Donald Spoffaud, Shirley Parsons and all others who gather to honor his memory. He was predeceased by his paternal and maternal grandparents, his father Richard Worcester, his mother Maureen Packard, and his incredibly beloved nephew Wayne (L.W.) Hurlbert.
All who knew and loved Brian are welcome to call from 5:00pm – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 10, 2026 at Brookings-Smith at 55 S Main St, Brewer, where visiting hours will be held. The family invites relatives and friends to share in conversation and refreshments following. Saturday, July 11, 2026 at 1:00p.m. there will be a grave side service held at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cherryfield, with Pastor Rick Jackson officiating. Those who wish to remember Brian Worcester, in a special way, may make gifts in his memory to any local youth sports league.
