Meet the Speaker: Karen Shorey

At our upcoming Tuesday Forum meeting, Karen will present “Busy Is Not a Badge of Honor,” an engaging and practical conversation designed especially for professional women balancing careers, leadership, family, and community responsibilities while often feeling stretched too thin.

Karen will explore the connection between energy, mindset, stress, and productivity while sharing practical tools to:
• Reduce overwhelm
• Regain focus and clarity
• Set healthier boundaries
• Lead time and energy more intentionally
• Create sustainable success both professionally and personally

This is a conversation many women need right now, honest, empowering, and filled with practical takeaways you can immediately apply in your daily life.

Meet the Speaker: Ellen Taner

With nearly five decades of experience in family science, Ellen Taner has dedicated her career to helping families, children, and communities build stronger foundations through education, advocacy, and support.

Over the last 49 years, Ellen has worked as an educator, trainer, policy advocate, writer, university adjunct professor, and national organizational leader. Her work has impacted families across the country and internationally, spanning settings including the military, foster care, the justice system, schools, and community programs.

At our upcoming Tuesday Forum meeting, Ellen will be sharing information about The Strengthening Children’s Program — a six-session curriculum designed for children ages 8–14 navigating divorce, separation, and ongoing family conflict. The program equips children with healthy coping skills and support systems intended to reduce the long-term risks associated with self-medication and addiction.

Members will also learn how they can help promote the program within schools, agencies, mental health organizations, and faith communities — including opportunities to receive a finder’s fee when the curriculum is purchased.

This is an important conversation about prevention, support, and creating healthier outcomes for children and families in our communities.
