The Maine Veterans Project was born from an outstanding ATV ride that raised funds to fight veteran su***de. After seeing the overwhelming support from our awesome community, I decided it was time to take our event to a new level and the Maine Veteran Project came to fruition. We are dedicated to preventing veteran su***de right here in Maine for our Maine veterans. Since our conception on July 09

, 2015, MVP has provided an impressive number of home improvement services, benefit-related services, heating fuel assistance and many other services.

A whole lotta awesome in one photo! As promised, here is a very special vehicle Donation from one veteran family to another.

We've had a decent list of veterans waiting for reliable vehicles now for months. The vehicle Donation program has slowed a little since the used vehicle market mysteriously blew up. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago when a phenomenal local veteran family decided to donate their immaculate Audi A5 (AND they made a generous donation to MVP). ๏ฟผ

Little did we know, the next veteran on our list had some health issues in his family. He had been relying on public transportation for vital medical appointments, adding mounting stress to an already stressful situation. Today, this veteran received the keys to a beautiful, reliable and economical sedan. It was an emotional time, and a very special day.

The veteran said the first thing he is going to do when he gets home, is show his wife and take the dogs for a ride... a tradition they have missed for months.

Huge thanks to our friends at Twin City Tire & Service for going over the vehicle and ensuring safety ๐Ÿ๐Ÿ‡บ๐Ÿ‡ธ

You want the good stuff? Because we've got the good stuff!

Tomorrow MVP will facilitate another vehicle donation at Twin City Tire & Service. Keep an eye on our page as it will be our evening post tomorrow.

Long story long, we have a list of veterans needing reliable vehicles. The need for a vehicle covers many bases such as medical appointments, grocery shopping, seeing friends and family and of course, getting out of the house for mental health purposes. Our veteran recipient has been relying on public transportation for critical medical appointments. The stress and strain of variable appointments paired with public transportation schedules has been piling.

Enter an awesome local resident and his wife, as they are donating their Audi A5. This veteran is familiar with foreign vehicles and even has a mechanic down the road that will offer discount parts, labor and service. It truly does require a teamwork to make these donations smooth and visible. But it all starts with the generosity of an awesome donor. Huge thanks to Scott and his wife ๐Ÿ

* this one will not be on the news per the veterans request, but we'll post on here

We sure do clean and sanitize the paintball masks after each use.

That being said, we would love to make them dirty again on September 13 for MVP Paintball at MMS ๐Ÿ”ฅ

Please join us on the Maine Military Paintball field from 12pm - 2pm (you'll be shocked how fast three hours will fly-by)

Open to all veterans and veterans are welcome to bring a guest. Free of charge, all you need to bring is yourself, closed-toe shoes, long pants and a great attitude (or be grumpy AF, you're about to be pelted with paintballs... ). Maine Military Supply Inc. donated all of these masks for our use and they donate use of the field. All we need to do is cover the paint and have a great time!

You don't have to carry it alone. And with hard work, therapy and consistency... it gets easier to carry ๐Ÿ’ช

A small airport in Maine has a tradition nobody assigned it.

It started with a single homecoming during Desert Storm. Volunteers there have met every troop flight since, including the ones that land after midnight. A documentary once followed three of the longtime greeters into their seventies and eighties, still making the drive.

Every soldier gets the same thing: a handshake, a cookie, and a free phone call home.

Thirty-five years on, they have never missed one.
