Maine Veterans Project

Maine Veterans Project The Maine Veterans Project (official) is a Maine veterans su***de prevention nonprofit organization
(3)

The Maine Veterans Project was born from an outstanding ATV ride that raised funds to fight veteran su***de. After seeing the overwhelming support from our awesome community, I decided it was time to take our event to a new level and the Maine Veteran Project came to fruition. We are dedicated to preventing veteran su***de right here in Maine for our Maine veterans. Since our conception on July 09

, 2015, MVP has provided an impressive number of home improvement services, benefit-related services, heating fuel assistance and many other services.

As far back as the civil war, there’s been documented symptoms related to trauma in our military. The terms we use have certainly changed over the yrs. Soldiers Heart, Shell Shocked, Battle Fatigue, PTSD & now PTS.
PTSD is still the official diagnostic term, however there is a movement within the community to TheD
PTS is an injury, it’s not a disorder. The goal behind the PTSD name change is to encourage , &
to feel more comfortable opening up about their experiences and seek help sooner.

Thank you for your service.

No, really. In a society where everybody feels inadequate… Veterans should never have to endure that feeling. Serving your country, whether it was during war or back home, is one of the most honorable and selfless things someone could ever do.

At the very least, take pride in the fact that you served. Take pride in the fact that you stepped up when so many others sat down. Take pride in the fact that you are still here, during an epidemic that has taken so many of us. Take pride in the fact that you're going to remain here… as an example to the rest of us of perseverance and choosing life looks like 🇺🇸

See that tire? 400lbs of thick rubber that could stop a bullet... or, in the right hands, raise a whole bunch of money to keep veterans warm this heating fuel season.

On Saturday, June 20 Mike Laliberte will flip this massive tire a full mile. That's nearly 800-flips. And he does it for time. To put this into perspective, the average grown adult could not flip the tire 10 times. Mike will punish his body, mind and soul to flip it almost 800 times. All in the name of charity. All he's asking for is a little support in the name of donations toward heating fuel season.

We are also going to highlight the awesome sponsors that are on board for this season:
- GES Contracting
- Valley Home Services
- The Helpful Amputee - Gas HVAC
- Anm Properties
- Dead River Oil
- Bret Loring Loring was here!
- Mum & Dad (Mike's)
- Justin Freeman
- Kevin Ball - Walnut Street Company

Huge thanks to these awesome sponsors!

If you needed a sign, here you go.

And you shouldn't need a sign… you shouldn't have to feel like you are in a place where su***de is the only option. But here we are, in the midst of a veteran su***de epidemic... and all of us are just scratching our heads every single day, wondering what we can do to stop it. Every program, every service, every effort we make every single day... and sometimes it's just not enough.

We must reach out to each other, we must open lines of communication and we absolutely must value life. Taking away your pain only compounds it down the line… And it creates this perpetual cycle that we are currently experiencing. If you don't love yourself enough to reach out, please consider loving the people around you enough to pick up the phone. To walk into an office. To go out and yell that you need help in public… Whatever it takes. Saving your own life might just save a few more lives in the process.

We are here, and we care. Please consider joining some events, stopping by the office or simply staying in touch with us, or any veterans organization out there. Especially staying in touch with your fellow brothers and sisters.
