Lions Club Bangor PA

Lions Club Bangor PA Lions meet the needs of local communities and the world every day because they share a core belief - to serve their community. Lions have a dynamic history.

Since 1955, the Bangor Lions Club and it's members have worked for the betterment of Bangor and the surrounding communities through their volunteerism and charitable works. Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization. We have 1.35 million members in more than 45,000 clubs in more than 206 countries and geographic areas. Founded in 1917, we are best known for fighting

blindness, but we also volunteer for many different kinds of community projects - including caring for the environment, feeding the hungry and aiding seniors and the disabled. Lions give sight. By conducting vision screenings, equipping hospitals and clinics, distributing medicine and raising awareness of eye disease, Lions work toward their mission of providing vision for all. We have extended our commitment to sight conservation through countless local efforts and through our international SightFirst Program, which works to eradicate blindness. Lions serve youth. Our community projects often support local children and schools through scholarships, recreation and mentoring. Internationally, we offer many programs, including the Peace Poster Contest, Youth Camps and Exchange and Lions Quest. Our Leo Program provides the youth of the world with an opportunity for personal development through volunteering. There are approximately 144,000 Leos and 5,700 Leo clubs in more than 140 countries worldwide. Lions award grants. Since 1968, the Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) has awarded more than US$700 million in grants to support Lions humanitarian projects around the world. LCIF was also ranked the number one nongovernmental organization in a 2007 study by The Financial Times. Lions help during disasters. Together, our Foundation and Lions are helping communities following natural disasters by providing for immediate needs such as food, water, clothing and medical supplies – and aiding in long-term reconstruction. Lions are active. Our motto is "We Serve." Lions are part of a global service network, doing whatever is necessary to help our local communities. 🦁 Bangor Lions Club — Remembering Thanksgiving 🍂

As the Thanksgiving holiday approaches, the Bangor Lions Club reflects on what truly matters — gratitude, remembrance, and service.

For 70 years, our members have come together to serve our community with compassion and purpose. This season reminds us to give thanks for the blessings we share, the friendships we’ve built, and the chance to make a difference in the lives of others.

We also pause to honor the Lions who came before us — those who helped lay the foundation for the service we continue today. Their spirit of kindness and dedication lives on in every project, every scholarship, and every act of giving.

This Thanksgiving, let’s remember that gratitude isn’t just a feeling — it’s an action. Whether it’s helping a neighbor, donating to a food drive, or sharing a simple act of kindness, every gesture carries the spirit of the season forward.

From our Lions family to yours — 🧡
Happy Thanksgiving!
May your holiday be filled with warmth, gratitude, and the joy of serving others.

We Serve 🦁

Come out to the Blue Valley Farm Show and help the Bangor Lions Club supports this amazing cause. Lion Tish is selling handmade pens for $5. All proceeds go to Leader Dogs.

Meet Future Leader Dog Harper, a Labrador/golden retriever cross. Here are some fun facts about her:

Personality: Active, Joyful, Vivacious
Gender: Female
Favorite Toy: Any toy another dog is playing with
Zodiac Sign: Scorpio
Growing Up In: Michigan

Harper is one of three symbolic sponsor puppies. These puppies will train with a volunteer puppy raiser until they are ready to come back to Leader Dog. When you sponsor a puppy, your generous action is what makes it possible to pair an incredible dog like him with a person who is blind at no cost to them.
