It is with deep sadness that we share with you the passing of DeWitt 'Woody' Woodworth (Past Department Commander, Past District Commander, Pup Tent 21 Member) early this morning.

There will be an Honor Es**rt at the Tomah VA this morning (2 July 2026) at 1100 hrs in Building 402 by the canopy/roundabout door.

On June 6, 1944, under the command of General Dwight D. Eisenhower, Allied forces launched Operation Overlord, the largest amphibious invasion in history.

By dawn, thousands of paratroopers had already landed behind enemy lines, followed by waves of troops storming the beaches of Normandy under heavy German fire.

Despite fierce resistance, especially at Omaha Beach, the Allies secured a foothold in France, marking the beginning of the liberation of Western Europe during World War II.

Post 8278 members provided ceremonial rituals at Bangor area cemeteries on Memorial Day, continuing a tradition that dates back to the Posts’ original charter date in 1946.

Memorial Day Program at the Bangor High School. Monday, May 25. 10:00 am ceremony. Guest speaker: Legion and VFW member Jason Dye. After the program, we will proceed to Fairview Cemetery for a brief program. The VFW and American Legion will continue on with services at the local cemeteries.
