Utthita Parsvakonasana asks something specific of you: can you be long and strong at the same time? Can you root while you reach? It's a pose that lives at the intersection of effort and ease — and the longer you study it, the more it gives back.

At Spiral Studio, "Balance the Fire" isn't about dimming your intensity. It's about learning to hold it. Whether you're a practitioner who pushes hard and forgets to rest, or someone whose inner flame has felt low lately — this month's classes, workshops, and intention work are designed to help you find your center.

Our community continues to grow, and every time we show up—whether for yoga, dance, meditation, reflection, or simply a moment to breathe—we strengthen something larger than ourselves.

As we move toward June, I’d love to hear from you: What light has been expanding in your life this month?

So excited to be featured on WABI TV5! Grace Bradley really understands who we are and what we do and she captured beautifully all of the dimensions of our offerings. Thank you, Grace and Sarah and WABI!!!

“We live in this culture that is all about productivity and just stress and do, do, do all the time. And very few people really give themselves an opportunity to just slow down, let alone just kind of stop and sit with themselves. People, I think, don’t really understand how fundamental breath is to emotional regulation. So, we give a lot of different tools, take-home tools, and kinds of things that we do through breath and through movement."

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and a downtown Bangor business is helping bridge the gap between mind and body.

Our May theme, Expand Into Light, sparked tremendous growth—in our reach, our community, our creativity, and the ways we continue to evolve together. As we move into June’s theme, Balance the Fire, it feels like the right moment to create a little more spaciousness between the ongoing work of running Spiral Studio and the things that help sustain and nourish our inner flame.

At Spiral Studio we celebrate Mother's Day by honoring the "mother energy" that all human beings are capable of. And wouldn't the world be a better place if we had more mother energy!

There all kinds of ways to be a mother. Below are some tidbits from today's special version of out monthly Spiral Sound Bath Mini-Retreat. (Sarah stepped in for Lexi, so of course there was a handout!)

Mother energy is channeled in many ways and balances compassionate care with bold, protective action. Often seen as selfless, nurturing and protective, it is less about gender and more about honoring the creative force within.

Self-care: mother yourself first, tending to your own well-being and setting healthy boundaries.

core pillars of mothering energy:
nurturing
protectiveness
fostering growth

beyond traditional motherhood:
mentorship
community-building
creativity

Kali ~ the “Dark Mother”
The Hindu goddess of time, death, creation & destruction, and ultimate power (shakti). She embodies the destructive, yet necessary, forces of change.
“tough love”
her warrior side embodies physical and emotional strength
she destroys evil to protect the innocent
liberal from illusion & ignorance
a profound symbol of ego’s death
she represents the power of transformation and ultimate consciousness
she destroys the demons of shame, doubt, and addiction

No matter who or how you "mother," thank you for making our community and world a better place! Spiral Studio Downtown Bangor Bangor Region Chamber of Commerce
