Bangor Beautiful is planting 16 native trees on Main Street, and you can help make it happen.

Through our Buy Bangor A Tree program, community members can sponsor a tree that will be planted by volunteers to help grow Bangor’s street tree canopy. Trees make our streets cooler, cleaner, safer, and more beautiful. They also help manage stormwater, support wildlife, and make our neighborhoods better places to walk, live, and gather.

Sponsor a tree for $300 and help green Main Street, one tree at a time.

Rain didn’t stop our first Monthly Gardening Party. In fact, it helped. Soft ground means easier weeding, and the plants were very happy for the drink. 🌧️🌱

We kicked things off at the Maine Audubon Mural garden on Broadway, where the native plants are waking up and the serviceberries are starting to blossom.

Join us on the first Wednesday of each month, May through October, to help keep Bangor beautiful and our local ecosystem thriving.

Busy bees welcome. 🐝🌼

We're going to be very BUSY BEES this spring!🐝

Starting this Wednesday, we're kicking off our Monthly Gardening Parties at the Maine Audubon Mural.

Then on Thursday, we'll be screening Defending the Dark - Preserving the Night Sky in Maine at the library as part of a spring film series.

From gardening and tree planting to murals, films, and a family nature walk, there are plenty of ways to get outside, get involved, and connect with the community.

All events are free and open to the public. Come to one or come to all, we’d love to see you there.

“No Mow May” is a quick and catchy name for a movement that aims far beyond not mowing the yard for a month. It’s more than long grass and dandelion blooms. It’s a gateway to understanding how we share our lawns with many small creatures.

Re-thinking the American lawn can take a variety of forms from mowing less often to converting lawn to a more diverse and natural landscape. If 10% of lawns in the US were replaced with pollinator-friendly native plants, we would add 4 million acres of pollinator habitat!

How does Bangor balance lush lawns with saving pollinators? Discover how locals are helping bees thrive while keeping ticks at bay and lawns maintained.

We went on a bit of a sign spree 👀

All of Bangor Beautiful’s murals now have signage installed to share the story behind each project and recognize the people and partners who made them possible.

These murals are about more than paint on a wall. They reflect collaboration, creativity, and a shared effort to make Bangor more beautiful and connected to the natural world. The new signs help tell that story and give credit where it’s due.

Take a walk, check them out, and see the full picture 🎨🌿
