My name is Scott Kaufmann and I founded Ride & Rise Above 6 years ago. I lost a brother to su***de and had an idea I could use that experience to help someone struggling with depression. With help from many friends over the last 6 years we've raised over $130,000 and it's helped over 30 people afford treatment at local facilities. Our Goal:
To raise enough money at our annual event to help at least 1 veteran, first responder or civilian afford life-saving treatment for PTSD or depression. How we achieve our goal:
We raise money primarily at our annual fundraising events which include live auctions, BBQ plate sales, raffle tickets and merchandise sales via the generosity of a very charitable community in and around Bandera TX. Causes we will support with our September 10th 2022 event include:
1. Veterans Assistance Dogs of Texas:
They rescue dogs to rescue veterans with PTSD and at no cost to the veteran. The
money we donate to this organization will help keep this great program going for
veterans in need of man's best friend!
2. Operation Warriors Heart Foundation:
This is the non-profit side of Warriors Heart, one of the best PTSD treatment
facilities in the country for veterans and first responders. This non-profit provides
financial aid to the men and women seeking admission to Warriors Heart. The
money we've donated to this organization for the last 6 years has saved the lives of
a navy corpsman, a police officer, 2 Marines, a Navy seal, an Airforce veteran and an
Army veteran.
3. New Hope Counseling Center:
A wonderful group of compassionate counselors that helps virtually anyone in the
Texas Hill Country with depression. They are connected to many treatment
resources and they work on a sliding scale, the less you can afford the less you pay. The money we donate helps pay for their treatment when the patient can't afford to
We hope to continue adding organizations to this list in the future.
