BBQ BY THE BAY: PHASE 2 ACTIVATION IS LIVE

Aggie Family, the foundation for our New Student Send-Off: BBQ by the Bay is set. Now, it’s time to build the experience.

We are officially moving into Phase 2 of planning for our signature July 11th event. We aren't just throwing a cookout; we’re curate a premium Aggie experience for the next generation of leaders coming out of Baltimore. To do that, we need the right squads in the "Lab."

We are looking for dedicated alumni to join three specific committees:

DECORATION SQUAD | "The Event Stylists"

If you have an eye for design and a passion for the Blue & Gold aesthetic, this is for you. You’ll be conceptualizing themes, conducting site visits to Woodlawn High School, and transforming our venue into a high-energy Aggie Pride zone.

BAY EXPERIENCE SQUAD | "The Experience Ambassadors"

You are the keepers of the vibe. This squad manages the flow of the day, coordinates entertainment, and ensures that every guest—from incoming freshmen to seasoned alumni—feels the meaningful connection of the Aggie network.

BBQ BAY MARKET SQUAD | "The Commerce Crew"

This is the heartbeat of the "Aggie Pride Plot." You’ll be managing our vendors, overseeing chapter merchandise, and coordinating the official picture areas (and maybe a special appearance by our mascot, Aggie!).

How to Join the Movement:

We need your expertise to make this the best send-off yet.

Aggie Family,

Championship teams require world-class experiences. Today’s briefing is all about why our investment in the Lady Aggies reaches far beyond Greensboro. 🌍

We are funding a championship mentality, and that mentality is forged on the international stage.

----------------------------

🇮🇹 WHY ITALY?
Recruiting in the CAA is an arms race. To get championship talent, we have to offer championship opportunities. This year, our women are headed to Italy. This isn't a vacation; it’s a business trip to play high-level European competition and bond as a unit away from the "noise" of campus. We’re raising funds to ensure they represent A&T on the world stage without the stress of out-of-pocket costs.

----------------------------

⭐ PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Valeria Estrada

Position: Libero

Class: Senior

Hometown: Coamo, Puerto Rico

The Impact: A former AAU All-American and Puerto Rico National 18U team member, Valeria brings "tremendous confidence" and a "never-quit attitude" to every set. Known for her range and elite touch on serve receives, she ensures the Lady Aggies stay in every point. A member of the National Honors Society, she brings that same championship discipline to her Animal Science major.

The Role: You’ll notice Valeria on the court because she wears a contrasting jersey—that’s the Libero. She is our defensive anchor and a "playmaker" out of the back row.

----------------------------

🔒 THE LOCKER ROOM

Let’s talk about the 'Market Value' of our athletes. When our women were in the Big South, the marketing often felt like it was boxing them in. By funding this Italy trip, we are literally expanding their horizons.

This is where that "Championship Swagger" is truly born. When they return from Italy, they won't just be better players; they will be a global unit that knows its value. Your dues and donations are what make this shift from "local" to "global" possible.

----------------------------

🏛️ A&T NEWS YOU NEED:

Bowling: Our #12 ranked Bowling team hosts the Stallings Invitational this weekend!

Academics: 9 of our online programs are now ranked in the Top 50 nationally.

Local: The CIAA is back in Baltimore this week! 30k people are expected to hit the city—let’s show up and represent.

Aggie Family,

While we wait for the official word on our external marketing push, we aren't letting the mission for our student-athletes go quiet. The Baltimore 100 Campaign starts right here, with us.

- Campaign Link: https://www.baltimorencatalumni.org/baltimore100

Over the next five days, we're bringing you an inside look at the N.C. A&T Women’s Volleyball program—the history, the hurdles, and the championship vision we are funding.

📖 WHY VOLLEYBALL?
Our Lady Aggies have been steadily building a powerhouse on the hardwood. Since joining the CAA, they haven’t just adapted; they’ve moved closer to a conference championship every single year. The grit and talent are there, but the financial gap in facilities and travel between us and legacy PWI programs is the final hurdle. We aren't just raising money to cover costs; we are raising money to provide the elite resources that transform contenders into undisputed champions.

⭐ PLAYER SPOTLIGHT: Charlie Meadoweal

- Position: Setter / Defensive Specialist

- Impact: Coming in as an AVCA honorable mention All-American, Charlie brings smooth hands and fierce energy. Whether she’s orchestrating the offense or racking up double-digit digs, her versatility is what championship runs are made of. Plus, she’s a future Vet and a singer (look out for her ESPY highlights)!

- Fun Fact: She’s not just a force on the court—she’s an Animal Science major planning to become a veterinarian, and she even showed off her singing prowess at the 2025 Aggie ESPYs!

🔒 THE LOCKER ROOM (Inside Perspective)
We left the Big South behind for a reason—to protect the dignity of our players. Now in the CAA, the stakes are higher. Our assistance is the catalyst for the psychological shift they need. When they know their alumni have fully armed them, they play with a different level of swagger.

The challenge is ON Aggies! 🏐✈️

Today, we are officially launching the campaign to support our phenomenal North Carolina A&T State University Volleyball team! We are rallying 100 dedicated alumni to fund their historic upcoming Italy Tour, secure vital facility upgrades for Moore Gym, and directly support the holistic well-being of our girls as student-athletes.

To kick things off right, the Baltimore MD Chapter leadership has already put a $2,000 donation on the table and confirmed with AAF that it is in the Volleyball Program's account. Now, we are looking for our network to step up and completely supersede that pledge! 🔥

All donors will be credited by AAF as we will provide the names and donation amount to them.

Let's make sure our student-athletes have the resources to compete and thrive at the highest level, at home and abroad.

The Baltimore MD Alumni Chapter of North Carolina A&T State University extends our deepest and most sincere condolences to the family, friends, and the countless lives touched by Reverend Jesse Jackson Sr.🕊️

A towering figure in the fight for civil rights, a champion of the marginalized, and a trailblazer who continually urged us to "Keep Hope Alive," Rev. Jackson’s legacy is woven deeply into the fabric of our nation's history. His tireless work with the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and his lifelong dedication to equality, justice, and economic empowerment have paved the way for generations—including right here in Baltimore and within our HBCU community.

We stand with the Jackson family during this difficult time. May his family find comfort in his monumental impact, and may we all continue to be inspired by his lifelong pursuit of a more just world.

Rest in Power. 🙏🏾

🚜 Putting the "A" Back in A&T: Launching our Black Farmers Initiative

This weekend, the Baltimore Alumni Chapter took a step back to our roots. We are proud to announce the soft launch of our partnership with Black Yield Institute and Enjoui Farms as part of our new Black Farmers Initiative.

We attended their "Home Gardening Workshop" at the Cherry Hill Marketplace, where we didn't just network—we learned. From indoor plant care and organic pest control to the history of ancestral crops like Amaranth and African Bitterleaves, we tapped into the true spirit of North Carolina A&T State University.

As Louis Williams III (Marketplace Organizer of Engagement) reminded us in the recap: "You don't have to touch the land to engage in food sovereignty."

Whether we are mapping out "Dream Gardens" on paper or buying fresh produce from Black-owned hubs, we are translating our legacy in Agriculture into action here in Baltimore, MD.

Check out the highlights from the day, the gems dropped by the team, and a look inside the marketplace at 638 Cherry Hill Road.
