On Wednesday, April 22, the Health Committee returned to Laurel Woods Elementary School to present the Colgate Bright Smiles, Bright Futures initiative to the children. This program offered free dental education, and resources to children, with a strong emphasis on building lifelong healthy habits. These healthy habits included brushing twice daily for two minutes with fluoride toothpaste, flossing daily, and maintaining regular dental visits. The initiative also promoted overall wellness through proper handwashing, good nutrition, and regular exercise.
During the visit, students also received materials on cavity prevention, watched an educational video featuring “Dr. Rabbit,” and participated in interactive games designed to reinforce key concepts. They were also given the opportunity to practice what they learned, and answer questions presented by the Continentals.
At the conclusion of the program, each child received stickers, a toothbrush, toothpaste, and additional educational materials to support continued learning and healthy habits at home.

Friday, May 29, 2026 – The Continentals Education & Arts & Humanities Committees supported our final session until September 2026 at the North Laurel Community Center Day Care Center! During this engaging educational session, members read books to 16 students about bees, exploring how they pollinate flowers and produce honey. Students also learned fascinating facts about ladybugs, grasshoppers, and other insects.
To reinforce the lesson, the children participated in hands-on activities, creating a 3D beehive craft and coloring miniature insect-themed coloring books. The session provided a fun and interactive opportunity for learning while encouraging curiosity about nature and the important role insects play in our environment. Before leaving, we restocked our Little Free Library to ensure continued access to books for young readers.

Today was truly an amazing day. Continental Societies, Inc.® Southeastern Howard–Laurel Chapter had the honor of recognizing and celebrating the remarkable accomplishments, resilience, hard work, and commitment to excellence of four outstanding high school graduating seniors.
Each student was awarded a college scholarship and a Certificate of Excellence during their respective Senior Awards Ceremonies for the Class of 2026. We proudly attended two school ceremonies where one began at 9:30 a.m. and another at 5:30 p.m. to personally support and honor these exceptional young scholars.
These students will continue their academic journeys at Bowie State University, Delaware State University, Howard University, and Towson University. We are incredibly proud of their achievements and look forward to witnessing their future endeavors and continued success.
