RLGN IS LISTENING. YOUR EXPERIENCE MATTERS.
Redefining Life Global Network (RLGN) is collecting experiences from Maryland and across the United States to better understand how criminal background checks affect people after reentry.
We want to hear from former inmates, returning citizens, reentry participants, and community members who have experienced a background check more than 7 years after their conviction or criminal-history event.
Have you experienced any of these?
🔹 An old conviction or charge appeared on a new employment background check
🔹 A record from many years ago was reported to an employer
🔹 Parole or probation information appeared on your background report
🔹 A recent fingerprint or record-update appeared even though you had NO NEW CHARGES OR CONVICTIONS
🔹 You completed your sentence but continued to have difficulty getting employment
🔹 An employer questioned or denied you a job because of an old record
🔹 You believe your background report made an old offense appear more recent than it actually was
📢 WE WANT TO HEAR YOUR STORY.
Your experience may help us identify whether this is an isolated problem or a larger systemic issue affecting people returning home.
RLGN is working with reentry organizations, advocates, legal professionals, universities, workforce-development programs, and people with lived experience to examine this issue and explore possible solutions.
