We work at the intersection of movements for social justice and the field of mental health. We work at the intersection of movements for social justice and the field of mental health to integrate healing justice into both of these spaces. We envision a world where all people have access to healing resources rooted in social justice and liberation to recover from trauma, violence, and systemic oppr
ession. We specifically acknowledge the harm and violence perpetuated by the medical-industrial complex and actively work to both intervene directly on this system as well as create new systems of care for our communities. To that end, we work to:
1. Build the capacity of QTPoC mental health practitioners
2. Create healing justice resources for QTPoC
3. Provide technical assistance for social justice organizations to center healing justice in their work
4. Engage in movement building to intervene on the medical-industrial complex
We acknowledge that our community is expansive, diverse and divergent. We have a multitude of ways that we name and conceptualize our identities and the communities from which we come. We hold and honor all of these tensions. We honor our complex histories and lineage. We understand the limitations of language and know that the ways understand ourselves and the language we use is constantly shifting. Our community includes black, indigenous, latinx, arab, middle eastern, asian, pacific islander, and mixed-race, le***an, gay, bisexual, q***r, transgender, two-spirit, gender non-conforming, genderq***r, and nonbinary people committed to healing justice for our peoples. We prioritize the unique needs of QTPOC mental health practitioners - social workers, psychologists, counselors, psychotherapists, case managers, substance abuse counselors, behavioral health workers, and peer support practitioners providing emotional and spiritual care in a variety of contexts and settings both paid and unpaid.
