We mourn the passing of Ms. Lluana Wint, a member of our Advisory Council and a staunch supporter of our mission.

Lluana was a bright light and a warm and generous spirit. She was passionate about supporting the education of students from primary to tertiary. She collected school supplies for students in Jamaica and supported nursing students at Brown's Town Community College School of Nursing.

Just a few weeks ago, she expressed interest in supporting a program collaboration we are working on to support young people incarcerated in Jamaica. She felt her school counselor skills would be a great fit. Although she is no longer here to join this new project, we will continue the work in her memory. Her commitment to & love for our homeland will not be forgotten.

We send our deepest condolences to Lluana's family, friends and all those who loved her.

Her light remains.

Last week, we spread some cheer to families with children returning to school. We distributed over 60 bookbags to children including students at Port Maria Primary School, children of officers at Falmouth Police Station & children of nursing students at Brown's Town Community College School of Nursing. Families also received food items and clothing.

We are grateful for our Board Vice President, Dr. Juwlz Pioneer-Nurse Harley for being our mission in action while distributing donations.

Today marks 64 years since Jamaica gained its independence. It is a land filled with hope and promise with a resilient, strong, faith-filled & determined people who have weathered every storm that came their way.

We are proud to serve communities across Jamaica and look forward to serving thos beautiful country and its people for the next 64 years!

Big up to our Board Vice President, Dr. Juwell Harley and family for sorting, packing & distributing book bags, school supplies, food staple items, clothing & reproductive wellness products to nursing students at Brown's Town Community College School of Nursing in St. Ann, Jamaica. Items were distributed to nursing students who have school age children.

We are for every person who made a donation to our Hurricane Melissa Relief Fund or our Support Nursing Students campaign or donated School supplies from our Amazon list.

We gifted 58 children with book bags & schools supplies.

Today is $5 Friday 🎉

$5 Fridays are an opportunity for our community to make a tax deductible donation to the work we are doing here & in Jamaica by making a donation of at least $5.

Today, we want to be intentional and transparent with our needs. We currently have a few areas that we need our community to help keep funded. They are listed below. Please give where your heart leads you to give. A donation of as little as $5 can help make a difference.

🇯🇲 Organization operations: your donation helps us cover operations costs. We do not have a high overhead but we do have expenses that are important for keeping us open & operating (officer liability insurance, storage, website platform, marketing platform & we need a bookkeeper).

❤️ Mission in Action Trip: our MIA team will be heading to Jamaica in September for a 2 projects related to our Hurricane Melissa Relief efforts. Normally volunteers cover their own travel expenses, but this year that is a challenge. So we are asking our community to help us raise the $2,000 that is needed to help cover the remaining costs for our team.

🌧 Hurricane Melissa Relief Fund: it's been 9 months since Hurricane Melissa landed in Jamaica and devastated hundreds of communities leaving thousands without a home, food & personal belongings. Since Melissa hit Jamaica's shores, we have raised over $7k and helped 200+ families with food, clothing, personal care items, schools supplies & water. The holidays are approaching and we would like to gift some families with a Christmas basket so they can make Christmas dinner for their families and have a joyful Christmas.

🐥 Chicks & Feed Initiative: farms were devastated across the western end of the island. Farmers growing crops and raising livestock for milk and meat lost their entire farms. We are launching this program to support women farmers who lost their livelihood and need a helping hand to restart. This program will also support women who are looking for a way to generate income to support their families.

This month we celebrate Caribbean-American Heritage!!! Caribbean culture, people & music have made a profound impact across the globe. We join our community in celebrating the accomplishments those of Caribbean heritage have made in America.

We've been quietly working 💪🏿. Today board members Rachel Joy Barrett-Dolcine, Rukie Wilson and Theresa Dunbar along with volunteer Sgt. Pierre Dolcine packed Hurricane Melissa Relief supplies for shipment to Jamaica tomorrow.

Thanks to generous donations from some pretty amazing people, we packed three 55 gallon barrels and a box full to the brim! Barrels & boxes included book bags, school supplies, clothing, undergarments, socks & food items.

A special thank you to:

❤️ the Broadhurst family for their generous donation of funds to cover the cost of purchasing and shipping 2 of the barrels.

❤️ Dr. Juwlz Pioneer-Nurse Harley and her friends & family for purchasing school supplies for 100 children.

❤️ Ruth Coby & Eboni Gee for donating Florence Nightingale lamps and battery operated candles to fulfil a special request from Brown's Town Community College School of Nursing for their nurse pinning ceremony.
