As we celebrate Independence Day, the Baltimore (MD) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated extends warm wishes for a joyful and safe Fourth of July.

Today, we honor the enduring ideals of freedom, liberty, and opportunity while reflecting on the responsibility we share to build stronger, more inclusive communities. We recognize that the promise of our nation is strengthened through service, civic engagement, and a steadfast commitment to uplifting others.

They are women of intellect, grace, influence, and purpose, each recognized not only for professional achievement, but also for the integrity, compassion, and impact with which they move through the world.

The Baltimore (MD) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated proudly hosted the 4th presentation in our A Call to Action series, “In the Spirit of Housing Equity, Have We Overcome?”

Together, we explored the lasting impact of redlining, disinvestment, housing inequity, and the policies that continue to shape opportunity across Baltimore City. Through thoughtful conversation and expert insight, we examined what it will truly take to build more equitable communities for future generations.

We extend our sincere gratitude to our featured speakers, Baltimore (MD) Chapter members Dana Henson and Lisa Hodges, alumna Joy Owens, and author and scholar Dr. Lawrence Brown. We are grateful for the wealth of knowledge, lived experience, professional expertise, and thoughtful perspective each of you brought to this important conversation. Your insight helped deepen our collective understanding of the intersection of housing, health, wealth, and opportunity in Baltimore.

Thank you as well to our attendees, partners, and community members who showed up engaged, informed, and committed to meaningful dialogue and action.

To every kind of mothering heart, today we honor you.

To the mothers raising children each day with love, strength, sacrifice, and grace.
To the bonus mothers who chose love and showed up fully.
To the godmothers, aunties, grandmothers, mentors, and women who mother through wisdom, presence, and care.
To the women longing to become mothers.
To those grieving their mothers, missing them deeply today.
To those carrying complicated emotions around motherhood, loss, distance, or healing.
To the women who have poured into others even while emptying parts of themselves.
To the fur baby moms whose nurturing spirit extends to every life they touch.
