Congratulations to our very own Patrick Moran on his election to lead the 1.4 million dedicated public servants of AFSCME!

Brother Moran has served as the President of AFSCME Maryland and executive board member of our council — leading efforts to expand collective bargaining rights, safety at work, and the power of solidarity across our great state.

We’re proud to call him one of our own, and we know he’ll bring that same passion, principle, and commitment to working people to this new role. Congratulations, Brother Moran!

For the last 14 years, Patrick has led our council with integrity and care, and he is an organizer through and through.

Under his leadership, we’ve seen our union grow by thousands of new members and the expansion of collective bargaining rights to over 15,000 workers throughout Maryland. During his tenure, Maryland workers won historic raises, new laws to protect against extreme heat and workplace violence, and a record-breaking wage theft settlement of $23 million.

Our AFSCME family in Maryland will miss Patrick, but we are excited to see the decades of union experience and organizing spirit that he will bring to our national union. We are confident that as AFSCME’s next leader, he will continue to grow worker power, protect and expand public services, and improve the lives of working people everywhere.

Our 2026 Labor Day Bus Tour is right around the corner! Ride in solidarity with working people across our region! 🚍

We'll visit union worksites, support union-endorsed candidates, and end the day at our Labor Day Parking Lot Party with food, a live DJ, games, and fellowship.

Come for the full bus tour or join us at the party. Bring your family, friends, and fellow union members as we celebrate solidarity, community, and the labor movement. We hope to see you there!
