Established in 2012, Rapid Lemon Productions is an independent theater company governed by the urgent need to amplify new stories and new voices, in an environment where artists and audiences come together to represent the community we serve. We believe that art is not only entertainment—it is liberation work. We believe that communities thrive when they have the power to tell their stories, to de
fine their destinies, and to imagine themselves in ways that only theater can bring. We want to be one of many that make our community and future a bit sweeter.
1. Freedom to Create
We create and seek after work that gives artists and audiences the freedom to define themselves. We believe in creative agency, especially for those whose voices have been historically pushed to the margins.
2. Working with Commitment
We strive to provide fair opportunities to all who make our art possible. Every artist deserves a chance to find their voice. We recognize the ways artists and communities have been exploited over the course of history. We are committed to cooperative models of production and reinvesting in the people who make our work possible.
3. Space of Inclusion
We aim to create theater that feels like home. Environments that are safe, accessible, and vibrant with human complexity. We support learning that reveals our shared histories, challenges injustice, and builds self-knowledge as a foundation for individual and collective growth. We support the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of every artist and audience member. Our spaces and events are aimed to nourish, not harm.
4. Protection & Accountability
We do not tolerate abuse, bullying, harassment, bigotry, or violence. We are accountable to one another. We create a professional, collaborative and impactful atmosphere for artists, partners, and audiences. We believe that every person deserves fairness, dignity, and a chance to grow. We advocate for restorative, not punitive practices; within our company and beyond.
5. Rapid Lemon Productions for The People
We reject oppression in all forms. We stand with all people working toward justice, equity, and peace—locally and globally. We want to create theater that nourishes the soul. Theater belongs to the people, and through it, we build the world we deserve.
