We were among 100 co-signatories to America FWD federal transportation reauthorization letter:

"We write in support of a surface transportation reauthorization that will improve safety, increase affordability, and provide all Americans with the freedom to choose how they move. To achieve these outcomes, the next surface transportation law must deliver a fully integrated multimodal transportation system within a generation. The federal transportation program should deliver these outcomes regardless of how funding is raised, allocated, and distributed. Congress must also protect and restore authorized and appropriated funding and awarded grants from any form of clawback to provide communities with promised project benefits and restore public trust."

Senator Van Hollen
Congresswoman Sarah Elfreth
Congressman Kweisi Mfume
Johnny Olszewski
Angela Alsobrooks

TCA is sponsored by Delegate Edelson (HB 437) and Senator Hettleman (SB59) and has already passed the House.

The bill will:

-Create more accountability and transparency for the state's transportation infrastructure budget
-Require the Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT) to evaluate the climate pollution from all the major capital projects in the state's transportation budget and develop additional clean transportation projects, if necessary, to cut greenhouse gas emissions
-Mandate that new major highway expansion projects over $100 million are designed to offset pollution by funding public transit, bike, and pedestrian infrastructure along with the project
Now it's up to the Senate to get this bill across the finish line. Take action now.

The Reliable Transit indicator measures two things: schedule adherence and data integrity. Data Integrity is the percentage of a transit agency’s scheduled trips that we observe in the realtime data.

Schedule adherence is the percentage of observed trips that arrived at the bus stop or train station “on time.” Reliable transit is an indicator of whether the transportation system is giving you choices.

Our Grade: B-

“Our transportation system at the moment is hurting, not helping the cost problem,”

The problem: Cost. Owning & operating a car was already getting expensive; a spike in gas prices hurts even more.

The solution: Pass this bill. Maryland households could save $2,775 per year.

Green advocates in Maryland are pushing for a third straight session to get legislation across the finish line that would require the state to align its transportation priorities with its climate goals.
