We are proud that Maryland is investing $25 million so that federally qualified health centers and local health departments can provide primary care for people who have lost their health coverage due to HR 1. This investment will reduce uncompensated care, helping to stabilize premiums for ALL Marylanders.

Governor Wes Moore today announced the launch of a new tool to help Marylanders connect with job training, adult education, and workforce development programs. The tool includes more than 900 opportunities and can help residents find programs that meet new federal work requirements.

The Trump administration’s H.R. 1 law ties access to essential food assistance and health care coverage to documented work activities. Through the new tool and other efforts, Maryland is working in partnership with state agencies to help residents navigate these changes, find qualifying programs, and keep the benefits they rely on.

"This new database builds on that progress, making it even easier for our customers to find approved workforce programs, fulfill new federal requirements, and safeguard the support they rely on every day,” said Acting DHS Secretary Stacy L. Rodgers.

Gov. Wes Moore has backed legislation that would allow Maryland to adopt federally negotiated Medicare drug prices for state health plan recipients, potentially saving tens of millions of dollars annually and accelerating a process that currently takes months to complete.

Del. Jennifer White Holland (D-Baltimore County) is expected to sponsor the bill in the House, with state Sen. Dawn Gile (D-Anne Arundel) leading it in the Senate. Moore pledged to sign the measure if it passes the 2027 legislative session, and the Maryland Healthcare for All Coalition reports backing from 26 incumbent Senate candidates and 79 incumbent House candidates — enough support to clear the chamber thresholds of 24 senators and 71 delegates.
