Maryland Area Young Professionals (YP) gathered at Summit Grove Campground in New Freedom, PA, on September 11th-12th. The retreat provided opportunities for time in God’s Word, and to fellowship and worship. Participants were able to get away from daily distractions and things that feel urgent.

The men also enjoyed conversations and connection with the Maryland Area Leadership Team members who were at the campground for their annual business meeting. One YP shared: “I appreciated the conversations with the Maryland leaders. It was cool to talk with them and hear their experiences. I could have used more time with them to hear more stories and their wisdom.”

Most men work hard, carry responsibility, influence others, and still quietly wonder if their work really matters and how their faith connects to everyday life. The CBMC MERGE Conference was a national gathering designed to help men align faith, work, and purpose right where life actually happens.

Why do some business owners and managers multiply leaders while others merely direct employees? The difference often lies in how they define success. The marketplace focuses on productivity, profit, and personal advancement, whereas biblical servant leadership aims at something much greater: developing people and helping them realize their full potential.

Vaughn Thurman, Founder and CEO of HighGear, spoke at the 27th Annual Greater Washington County Leadership Prayer Breakfast on October 1 at D.M. Bowman Academic Hall in Hagerstown, MD. In his talk, “Learning to Be Steady in Unsteady Times,” he reflected on how faith in Jesus Christ provides a steady foundation amid the uncertainties of our world and an ever-changing culture.

Thank you to the many Washington County community leaders and residents who joined us for this meaningful gathering. One participant remarked: "The message landed home for me in a place that I'm at right now and I was glad for the Lord having me there to hear it!"

Knowing how to speak up is a skill. Knowing when to stay silent is a superpower.

In the modern workplace, we are taught that the loudest voice in the room wins. But reacting too quickly or over-communicating can quickly dilute your message and damage trust.

This week’s Monday Manna explores the delicate balance of communication and the profound leadership impact of restraint. Find out what you might be missing when you rush to fill the silence.

Ever notice how a tough day at the office follows you through the front door at home?

As men, we’re wired to protect everything around us—the numbers, the job, the team, and the paycheck. But there’s one specific thing running the whole show that most guys leave completely wide open.

Scripture doesn't tell us to guard our success "above all else." It tells us to guard something entirely different.

Find out what you're actually supposed to be defending here: https://cbmc.com/blog/guard-the-heart-you-lead-with/
