😢😢😢😢😢😢❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Jason McKay’s video as he was forcing himself to watch all the Star Wars movies in an effort to raise money for CCA fairly last minute in 2016 when our fundraising started late because I was sick for 10 days. He and I had never seen any of the Star Wars movies and had zero desire, I know I know calm down you diehards I’ve heard it all you won’t convince me lol, so he decided all on his own to use it as a way to raise money for CCA that year. 100% unprompted by me, he did it as a friend to me & to be of service to the kids. I believe he raised like $1200...it was a lifesaver that season for sure. Jason was also so helpful to CCA behind the scenes. He was ALWAYS available to run random errands Julie or myself needed done at the drop of a hat every December starting in 2013...maybe 2014.
I adored him. We spoke at length this past Pandemic Christmas and he was genuinely disappointed we weren’t going to conduct our usual CCA work. He had reached out to me Thanksgiving excited to be “put to work, give me whatcha’ got Ellen!”
Christmas 2019 we nearly gave each other heart attacks when a couple bikes he picked up for us at Target and dropped off at Joyce Stohlman’s house were actually dropped off at the wrong house and we didn’t figure it out until Christmas Eve. No. Literally Christmas EVE lol! I totally forgot to warn him Joyce’s address is IDENTICAL (leaving out the details so as not to blast her address on social media 😉) to a house a couple miles from her hence GPS will send him there potentially...when Julie called me freaking (ok Julie’s version of “freaking” anyway) because there were no bikes for her kids I called Jason who was at a family event yet treated this as an emergency and we talked and texted for the next hour or so until it was resolved. The bikes were picked up at the OTHER address. Shewww. Anyway he was BESIDE himself, so upset then when we figured it out and it got resolved in true Jason form he went straight to humor and he and I were hysterical. The jokes were not at all family friendly hence I can’t post here but it was great. That incident opened the door for about 93 jokes between us which we discussed during our Pandemic Christmas call as well. What a terrible loss for all who cared for him and most definitely for Charm City Angels.
RIP Jason.
