Last week, our Fellows explored how identity, perspective, and lived experience shape the way we communicate, lead, and work alongside others. 💡

That awareness is especially important in pro bono consulting, when Fellows partner with nonprofits and communities whose experiences may look very different from their own. It’s why we dedicate an entire GIVE session to Identity, Perspective, and Leadership, and why the conversation proves so valuable every year.

A huge thank-you to CJ Gross for guiding our Fellows through this session. Through CJ’s combination of insightful lecturing and eye-opening discussion, Fellows shared pieces of their own , challenged assumptions, and learned about how the places and experiences that shape us influence the way we show up for others. Thank you also to Hippodrome Theatre for allowing us to feel the power of history in your gorgeous space, and for taking our Fellows on a special backstage tour after the session.

Armed with new insights, our Fellows are heading deeper into their with their nonprofit partners. Follow along to see what’s next in store for them!

Happy to the organizations that know how to turn an opportunity into impact. 💪

When our partners at UMBC Training Centers asked if any local nonprofits could use office furniture from their downsizing project, we sent the call out to our network.

More than 20 organizations responded within 24 hours, and by the end of the next day, the office was nearly cleared out. The response was so fast, there wasn't even time for “during” photos: just a before and after.

This moment demonstrates the power of our nonprofit network. Our nonprofits share resources, collaborate quickly, support each other, and even keep beautiful furniture out of the landfill. These nonprofits are the reason we strive to every day.

Thank you, nonprofits, for everything you do. This small story is just one of many. 💜

Another connection has turned into a new nonprofit board member! 🎉

Congratulations to Jennifer Johnson, Head of Product Content and Communications at T. Rowe Price, on her election to the Board of Directors at & Cornbread, Inc.

Jennifer came to our boardCONNECT event as a way to get started in board service after considering it for some time. After a quick conversation at boardCONNECT, Love & Cornbread stood out to her.

“I instantly connected with the vision of Love & Cornbread and the rest is history," she said. "I’m thrilled to have found a connection where I can use my marketing skills to help make a difference in people’s lives.”

Love & Cornbread is equally excited to welcome Jennifer to their Board.

"We were thrilled to connect with Jennifer through the boardCONNECT program," Sue May, Executive Director at Love & Cornbread, said. "She brings fresh perspective to our board and helps us see what we do with new eyes. Her professional expertise in marketing and communications is extremely valuable as we work to position our bake-at-home cornbread mix as a socially conscious gift in the local market."

Congratulations again to Jennifer and Love & Cornbread. We're thrilled to have helped make this mutual match a reality, and we can’t wait to see what you accomplish together!

Yesterday, GIVE Fellows dove deeper into their during our sixth GIVE Fellowship workshop!

It was thrilling to watch connections grow as Fellows and their nonprofits moved from initial ideas toward clearer project focus areas, roadmaps, and next steps. As these pro bono consulting projects begin to take shape, we’re seeing the thoughtful collaboration that makes GIVE so meaningful.

Thank you to the team at umbctraining, led by Marc Kolp, for guiding this session and helping prepare our teams for the work ahead. Thank you as well to our GIVE Advisory Project nonprofits for attending and contributing to this monumental process.

Last but certainly not least, thank you to Baltimore Symphony Orchestra for hosting us in their beautiful space! We look forward to seeing how these nonprofit consulting projects continue to develop in the weeks ahead.

Last week, we partnered with Data Networks and Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland, Inc. for a meaningful Day of Service supporting older adults and neighbors who are homebound.

After learning more about the organization's mission and the impact of reducing isolation for seniors, volunteers assembled nearly 50 Senior Care Kits filled with puzzles, lotion, tea, socks, tissues, candy, and other thoughtful comfort items to brighten someone's day.

Thank you to the Data Networks team for giving back and to Meals on Wheels of Central Maryland for the incredible work you do every day.

Together, we're building stronger, more connected communities.

Great content and meaningful connections over refreshing drinks has got to be one of our favorite ways to close out a hot summer day. 🍹

GIVE Fellowship alumni and current Fellows got to do just that this past Wednesday, when we gathered for a event: How Creative Media Advances Social Impact.

Our featured speakers, Alanah Nichole Davis and DrVonnya Pettigrew, shared practical insights, creative strategies, and plenty of ideas of how to use storytelling to help leaders elevate both their organizations and personal brands. Judging from the thoughtful questions and copious notes, our GIVE friends left with plenty of tools and inspiration to strengthen the stories they tell.

Many thanks to our wonderful speakers, our wonderful hosts at Lighthouse Canton, and our Content and Cocktails sponsor, Southwest Airlines 💙❤️💛 This evening wouldn’t have been possible without you.

Content & Cocktails is part of an ongoing series of elevated, educational happy hours designed exclusively for members of the GIVE network. While the fellowship only lasts eight months, the learning, connections, and community continue well beyond graduation.

A full-circle moment for TasteWise Kids and Business Volunteers! 💜

We're thrilled to celebrate Angie Bossle's election to TasteWise Kids' Board of Directors.

Angie is a Sr. Customer Success Manager at Dropbox, and connected with TasteWise Kids through our boardCONNECT event, which introduces prospective board members to nonprofits seeking new leadership.

As a parent of two children, Angie feels a personal connection to TasteWise Kids' mission of helping children explore food and build positive, lifelong eating habits. She's grateful for the opportunity to help build a healthier future to families like her own.

And the story doesn't end there: TasteWise Kids is one of this year's nonprofits, who will receive strategic pro bono consulting from this year's class. Angie is a Class of 2020 GIVE alumna: a true moment!

Congratulations again to Angie and TasteWise Kids. We look forward to seeing what you accomplish together. 🎉

Yesterday, we hosted our fifth GIVE Fellowship workshop of the year, and it marked one of the Fellowship’s most exciting milestones: the start of our .

It’s always a pleasure to see our GIVE Fellows meet their assigned nonprofits, build relationships, and dive into the first stage of their advisory project work. We’re already seeing some friendly competition emerge among Fellow teams, and it’s clear they are energized and ready to deliver thoughtful pro bono consultation to their assigned nonprofits.

Thank you to the team at UMBC's Center for Leadership and Innovation for leading this session and guiding our teams through all the advisory project work ahead. Thank you also to all the GIVE Advisory Project nonprofits for joining us in-person for this session, and to Johns Hopkins Carey Business School for hosting us in their beautiful space on the 24th floor.

We’re excited to see this class enter the next stage of the GIVE Fellowship!
