To our amazing supporters:

As we approach the season of giving, I am thrilled to reach out to you on behalf of the 29th Street Community Center. As the Executive Director, I am incredibly proud to share how your support has played a pivotal role in making our mission a living reality.

Our commitment is clear: to provide safe, accessible spaces and programs that amplify the voices and talents of our diverse community. Over the past year, 29SCC has not only embraced this commitment but has truly thrived in its ex*****on.

In our after-school program, we've touched the lives of over 75 youth and teens, hiring 10 dedicated youth workers. We've had the pleasure of hosting four teens year-round for meaningful employment, creating a positive impact on their lives and our community. Our summer program was a resounding success, offering participants a chance to explore their minds, bodies, and souls through engaging activities like mixed martial arts, cooking, theater, STEM, and mentoring.

Field trips to the beach, the Turkey Hill ice cream experience, Hershey Park, and more added an exciting dimension to their summer experience. Our end-of-the-year survey echoed the success of our endeavors – all participants felt safe, were exposed to something new, and felt cared for at the Center.

Moving into fall, our Night at the Grove fundraiser was a triumph, raising over $30,000. We listened to our incredible teens share their aspirations, ranging from future therapists to engineers. Your support during the fundraiser highlighted the importance of our shared community commitment to nurturing these dreams.

As we look ahead to 2024 and beyond, your generosity becomes the foundation for continued dreams. Imagine a future where your next doctor, lawyer, or brain surgeon might be one of our very own kids or teens. Your donation on Giving Tuesday is an investment in not just our current community but also our future community.

Eyes on the pies! 🥧 Join us for a collaborative community project by the 32nd Street Farmers Market, Village Learning Place, and the 29th Street Community Center, the First Annual Great Waverly Pie Fest 🥧 The First Annual Great Waverly Pie Fest is a Live Pie Contest and an Online Pie Auction 🥧 The auction starts on Thursday, October 19 at 10 am and ends on Sunday, October 22 at 8 pm. If you want to participate as a baker, you can sign up until 8 pm on October 12. Bid on your favorite pie virtually to donate to Village Learning Place and the 29th Street Community Center Don't forget to buy your pie ingredients from the 32nd Street Farmer's Market🍎🍠 Saturdays 7-12 pm, Maryland Market Money accepted 🥧 The Pie Contest at the Market on October 21 begins with entries delivered by 9 am. Judging and award presentations are at 11 am.
