Currently, we are working with the Department of Education in the City of Carcar, Cebu Philippines Summary Document for Dental Hygiene Education Initiative in Carcar City, Philippines
Background: The Department of Education in Carcar City focuses on providing essential dental hygiene education and care to reduce student absenteeism and promote overall oral health. Due to the lack of private denta
l services available to the majority of students, our local dentists not only educate but also perform necessary dental extractions. However, there is a significant shortfall in the budget that prevents the provision of basic oral hygiene supplies such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and fluoride treatments. Current Resources and Needs:
• Human Resources: Our team consists of 2 dentists and 6 nurses.
• Beneficiaries:
o 21,000 elementary students
o 15,000 high school students
o 1,300 Department of Education employees
• Facilities: Currently, there is only one dental chair available to serve a total population of 37,000 students and staff. Project Focus: Initially, our project will target the 21,000 elementary students, providing:
• One fluoride treatment per year
• Two toothbrushes per year
• Two tubes of toothpaste per year
Budget Requirements:
• Per Student Cost: $1.88 USD annually
• Total for Elementary Students: $39,480 USD annually
• Additional Equipment: We aim to fundraise for an additional dental chair at a cost of $9,000 USD. Total Annual Fundraising Goal: $50,000 USD
This budget will enable us to enhance our services and ensure that all elementary students receive the basic dental care they desperately need. Will you consider sponsoring at least one student/learner for $1.88 a year? You could sponsor an entire class of 30 students for only $56.40 per year. Your donation will have a direct and dramatic effect on the children in Carcar, Philippines.
