Baltimore Jewish Cultural Chavurah

Baltimore Jewish Cultural Chavurah The Baltimore Jewish Cultural Chavurah is a home for those who identify as Jews primarily through culture, history and family.

We provide a welcoming and enriching Jewish environment with no demands for religious beliefs. We believe that Judaism is the creation of the Jewish people and that all generations are responsible for carrying it forward and adding to it. We believe that only natural forces and human beings are responsible for what happens in this world. We believe that people have the ability and the responsibili

ty to solve human problems through striving for equality, social justice and peace. We believe in the equality and dignity of every human being and in the value of community. BJCC is an affiliate of the Society for Humanistic Judaism and a member of the Baltimore Coalition of Reason.

Member Robyn Hughes, a kayaker and braille consultant who has a visual impairment, used a print braille graphics software program called Quick Tac to draw the Bridge II Sports 'bridge archways' and paddle with kayak out of graphic braille dots. It also looks very much like the accessible dock at Lake Crabtree County Park! This was displayed on Bridge II Sports Weekly, a website for disabled athletes. Robyn’s design can be seen here: https://www.bridge2sports.org/newsletter/

Our very own Bob Jacobson also wrote a beautiful article on Robyn in the January 7th edition of the Baltimore Jewish Times. The featured article is available through this link:

Keep up with all the news and excitement at Bridge II Sports as we challenge perceptions of disability one game at a time!
