We are incredibly thankful for the 5 cases of 5-gallon hand sanitizer (Sagamore Spirit) and 100 hygiene kits (Annie E. Casey Foundation) that we were so graciously gifted to us this week. We cannot do the work that we do without our wonderful YES partners!

Thank you Baltimore Homecoming!!

Happy Friday! Today’s is Youth Empowered Society (YES). Youth Empowerment Society grew out of the work of the Baltimore Homeless Youth Initiative (BHYI) Youth Leaders, a group of youth with personal experiences of homelessness that formed as an arm of the BHYI Coalition.

YES works to end youth homelessness in Baltimore by providing direct services to youth experiencing homelessness, (2) developing the leadership and employment readiness of these youth, and engaging in system-level reform.

They have multiple volunteer opportunities that are direct or indirect. Visit them on our campaign page to learn more!

Description:

In search of consistent volunteer support to prepare for Youth Empowered Society (YES) Drop-In Center daily drop-in programming on Thursdays from 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm.

Note: This is an indirect service opportunity. Individuals will not be working directly with youth. To follow CDC guidelines, a maximum of 2 individuals will be selected each week. Social distance will be observed.

Duties:

Donation Support

-Refolding clothing in respective closets

-Rehanging jackets, coats, and professional wear

-Restocking hygiene items from stored donations

-Sorting through incoming donations

Kitchen Support

-Restocking meals, snacks, and pantry items in kitchen space

-Restocking plates, cutlery, and napkins

General

-Restocking facility supplies in bathrooms

-Tidying up space for drop-in (clearing trash, sorting old papers, donating out surplus goods)

-Supporting weekly projects as needed

May require lifting items and boxes up to 50 lbs.

Minimum of two shifts (Thursdays 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm) per month required.

Looking for individuals able to commit for the next 3- 6 months.
