The summit will bring together public health professionals, healthcare providers, housing and community partners, advocates, and others working to prevent lead exposure and protect Maryland children and families.

Through expert presentations, panel discussions, and opportunities for connection, participants will explore the history of lead poisoning in Maryland, lead and pregnancy, testing and prevention, affected properties, policy and systems change, and the experiences of families and communities impacted by lead.

Come reflect on lessons from the past and identify opportunities to strengthen lead prevention and create healthier, lead-safe communities for the future!

The housing crisis is about more than affordability. Across the country, millions of people live in homes that are unsafe, unhealthy, and deteriorating, yet home repair remains largely overlooked in housing policy and public conversations.

Join us on October 22 at 1 PM for a webinar featuring Todd Swanstrom, Alan Mallach, and GHHI President and CEO, Ruth Ann Norton, to explore the urgent need to address housing deterioration and invest in preserving existing affordable homes.

Drawing on The Other Housing Crisis: Ending the Deterioration and Loss of Affordable Homes, the discussion will examine how home repair can improve resident health, preserve affordable housing, and strengthen communities. GHHI is pleased to continue and grow our Whole House + Electrification program with the support of Rhode Island Office of Energy Resources and we appreciate Commissioner Kearn’s and RIOER’s commitment to addressing the pre-weatherization barriers that prevent many of the households who could benefit most from weatherization services from accessing these critical services.

Together with RIOER, we will invest in the state’s built housing stock to ensure that low- and moderate-income Rhode Islanders live in safe, healthy, energy-efficient homes while simultaneously reducing greenhouse gas emissions and their harmful impact on us and the Earth’s climate.

This work has the potential to become a national model. We are grateful for OER’s leadership and partnership.
