📢And just like that, we have a new oculus window! Well, not "just like that"😏. As the installation process started right before Christmas, A LOT of time and coordination among the ( ) Committee members (Dr.Estelle Young, , and Ms. Gloria Rice) was dedicated to the planning and completion of this special and huge project! 👏👏👏

Thank you President Carliss Maddox for your last minute availability to ensure workers were able to access the building. Thank you Vice President Stacia Mobley for the daily detailed reports and pictures. And we would be remiss to not thank Guild member David Miller for his hard work leading up to this moment, for being there all day before, during, and after installation, and for his MANY sacrifices during the installation! 👏👏👏

Once again the , and would like to send an extra special thank you with hugs 🤗and daps🤛 to the Maryland Historical Trust (MHT) ,
Maryland Heritage Areas Authority (MHAA) , and the
Baltimore National Heritage Area (BNHA) for their generous funding provided through grants.

Who has a new oculus window😏😉? We do😃! Who's excited about their new Oculus window😉?! We are😁!🥳💃🔥😍 and did a great job!
THANK YOU, THANK YOU and THANK YOU! 👏👏👏

Earlier this year, the Greater Baltimore Urban League Guild's Education Committee joined the Baltimore City Schools Partnership Program to meet the needs of our local public schools.

Thomas Jefferson Elementary Middle School posted a need for books for grades PK-8. In order to meet that need, Education Committee members Shirley Waddy and Guild President Carliss Maddox began collecting and categorizing books over a two-month period. Overall, the committee collected over 400 new and gently used books for Thomas Jefferson Elementary Middle School students. Teachers and students were excited to receive their free books!

Education Committee members of the GBUL Guild are current and retired Baltimore City Public Schools educators. As educators, we know the importance of literacy in the lives of our students.

Research has shown that increasing and giving children a choice to choose the books they want to read improves academic performance and attitudes toward reading.

In keeping with Equity and Excellence Project, we will work to ensure educational equity for every child by providing access to free books.
