We’ve been busy as bees with workshops and events! 🐝🌼

Last month we partnered with and Ashley Trout of Greater Baltimore Wilderness Coalition for a Planting for Pollinators class at Black Butterfly Farm. Participants toured our established pollinator patch and learned how native plants and thoughtful garden design provide food and habitat throughout the growing season while helping plant our new pollinator garden.

also led a Sustainable Hive Maintenance class, covering seasonal hive care, colony health, pest management, and practices that support resilient honeybee colonies.

To put our learning into action, our team finished planting a new pollinator garden featuring Baptisia sphaerocarpa, Rudbeckia fulgida, and many other native species.

In our latest BBUFA Field School session, we explored the fundamentals of irrigation and watering for crop success.💧🌱

Participants learned about water access, irrigation materials, installation, and maintenance, then got hands-on assembling their own systems. We also focused on how to read your plants, paying attention to signs of stress, and how to adjust watering based on weather conditions like heat, rain, and humidity. ☀️🌧️🌤️
