Summer is beginning to wind down, and there’s a feeling of something new just around the corner.

As we move through Elul, we’re invited to slow down, reflect, and make space for what we want to carry with us into the Jewish New Year. Shabbat gives us that same gift each week: a chance to pause, reconnect, and begin again.

We’re getting so excited to welcome everyone back into Third Space, to fill the building with conversation, learning, laughter, reflection, and community as we enter this next season together.

May your Shabbat be a moment to notice where you’ve been, imagine where you’re going, and enjoy exactly where you are.

Adam Shapiro (The Bear, The Lincoln Lawyer, Never Have I Ever) + Katie Lowes (Scandal, Inventing Anna, Hunting Wives) are coming to Third Space!

They’re talking Jewish identity in Hollywood, the winding paths of working actors, marriage, making things together — and whatever you want to ask. No question is off limits.

And because Jewish geography always delivers: Adam and our own Rabbi Jessy Dressin both grew up at Camp Harlam! We’re thrilled to partner with Camp Harlam to bring them to Third Space.

From Camp Harlam to Hollywood to Third Space. Come for the stories, stay for the fun — and maybe a little acting.

Elul, but make it a little messy.

A few reflection cards. A handful of pens. Scraps of paper. Thoughts scribbled wherever they fit. Maybe an answer comes immediately. Maybe it takes a minute. Maybe you change your mind halfway through.

That’s kind of the point.

Our Month of Reflection is about making a little space to look back, look ahead, and see what comes up. No perfect answers required.

If you’ve spent any time at Third Space, you’ve probably spotted Sammy Davis Jr. looking out from our walls — rendered, rather amazingly, entirely in LEGO.

Sammy was an entertainer in every sense of the word: singer, dancer, actor, comedian — and a Black Jewish icon whose story defied just about every box anyone tried to put him in.

His portrait is the work of Baltimore artist Ira Malis, who creates remarkable mosaics using thousands of LEGO bricks and just a handful of colors. Up close: bricks. Step back: Sammy.

This fall, Sammy is getting a whole lot of company.

This Fall we’ll open Brick by Brick: A LEGO Portrait Gallery, featuring more than two dozen of Ira’s portraits — his first-ever public exhibition.

For now, come say hi to Sammy. He’s already here.

Hey all – it’s Carly.

Confession: I don't really consider myself an artist.

But… I love making art. I am so excited to facilitate a JSP Creativity Circle each month from October through June, and I would genuinely love for you to join me.

JSP isn’t just for artists. It's about using creativity to think differently, notice things you might otherwise miss, and connect—with yourself, with Jewish wisdom, and with other really wonderful humans.

Honestly... art is one of my favorite things we do at Third Space, and I'd love to share it with you.

As summer begins to wind down, we find ourselves looking ahead with excitement. Soon our halls will be filled with familiar faces, new conversations, meaningful gatherings, and all of the energy that comes with a new season at Third Space. With the Jewish holidays on the horizon, we can't wait to welcome everyone back.

However you celebrate (or don't), we hope this Shabbat offers you a chance to slow down, reconnect, and enjoy a little peace before the busy season ahead. We are so looking forward to opening our doors again soon and sharing another meaningful year together.
