There are so many items you can bring to Fix-It Fair!
🚲 Bicycles

💍Jewelry
🔪 Dull kitchen knives
🪑 Wooden furniture (that you can carry easily)
🎸 Instruments
🏠Household Appliances (fans, lamps, kitchen or yard tools)
AND SO MUCH MORE!

There are also a few items you should NOT bring:
❌Gas powered items
❌Items that need welding
❌Smartphones, laptops, tvs
❌Microwaves
❌Weapons
❌Items used for personal hygeine
❌Big items you need help carrying

Fix-It Fair is a FREE, family friendly event hosted by us, the Station North Tool Library. You’ll get help from experienced volunteer fixers making common repairs on clothes, furniture, household items, bikes, AND MORE!

Knife Making
4 Part Class starting March 10-19th on Tues & Thurs

Make a custom chef’s knife from start to finish. Begin by drawing out your profile using one of our templates or your own design. Cut it out of 1095 steel and take it through a couple of rounds of stock removal and heat treating. Then attach the wood of your choice and form the handle. These are amazing custom tools you can use every day and it will be the sharpest knife in your kitchen!

Prerequisite - NONE
Materials (all included) - 1095 steel, wood, pins
Class Time - 12 hours (four 3-hour sessions)
Cost - $250

YOU MUST ATTEND ALL CLASSES - NO MAKE-UP DAYS ARE OFFERED!!! TOTALLY WORTH IT :) If you know you will miss a class date please register for a different session.

Learn the skills to make a Coffee Table next week!

Design a solid butcher block style coffee table using reclaimed lumber and hairpin legs. The first session covers milling and lamination. The second session covers routing, sanding, finishing, and attaching the legs. This versatile process is applicable to many other woodworking projects from smaller cutting boards to larger tabletops.

This class also certifies class takers to use the Jointer, Planer, and Table Saw, at our Open Shop.

Max table size is 20” x 48”. Measure your room or current coffee table beforehand to get a sense of what will fit best!

Prerequisite – Shop Safety

Certifications- tables saw, planer, jointer
Tools Used – miter saw, table saw, planer, hand routers, palm sanders, drill
Materials (all provided) – wood, screws, metal legs
Class Time – 6 hours
Cost – $250

This Thursday 2/12! A sharp knife is a safe knife and makes cooking way more fun!

Sharpen your skills and your kitchen knives in this sharpening basics class. Students will learn multiple methods of sharpening and honing a knife’s edge as well as some general rules of thumb in knife maintenance. Students are encouraged to bring up to 5 knives they would like to sharpen to class -no serrated knives please!

Prerequisite – NONE!
Certifications- None- to use the Knife Shop, members must take Knife Making
Tools Used – Whetstones, strop, honing rod, belt sanders
Materials - *Students are recommended to bring a knife they want to sharpen*
Class Time – 3 hours
Cost – $65

We’re excited to see that number grow as we host more repair events and mending clinics for the Baltimore community.
