Snow & Ice Aftermath Updates

Alleyways: ONA contracted to plow neighborhood alleyways. The Board will be discussing how to handle future snow and ice events and welcomes creative, community-wide ideas.

Trash & Recycling: City trash and recycling services continue to experience disruptions. Schedules may change, so please refer to Baltimore City Public Works for the most up-to-date information:
https://publicworks.baltimorecity.gov/trash-recycling-collection

Help for Neighbors: The City has issued a call for volunteers to assist neighbors who may need help with snow and ice removal. Requests and volunteer coordination are being handled through 311.

Sidewalk Safety: Many neighbors rely on walking through the community. Uncleared sidewalks create real safety hazards. Baltimore City reminds residents that snow and ice must be removed within 3 hours of a storm ending. We are well beyond that timeframe. Please be considerate and ensure sidewalks are cleared. City guidance is available here:

Questions or concerns can be directed to [email protected]

An important element in providing safe passage for pedestrians during snow events is in the hands of Baltimore city residents themselves, namely, the removal of snow and ice from public sidewalks.

Update: We’ve secured a contractor who will begin plowing Original Northwood alleyways this evening in response to the historic snow and ice storm.

Many thanks to our Maintenance Chair Jayne Mauric, and neighbors Zhan Caplan and Jess Kupper for helping make this happen quickly. The Board will also be discussing how best to prepare for and respond to future snow and ice events and welcomes creative, constructive input from neighbors.
