Baltimore Urban Baseball Association BUBA

Baltimore Urban Baseball Association BUBA Building Urban Baseball in America! (and softball) We operate America's 1st FREE training facility. Help us grow.

BUBA operates America’s 1st FREE baseball/softball facility, a concept that has never been done before, right here in Baltimore. Non-profit BUBA was built by ex-athletes in the community—former college and professional players who wanted to give Baltimore’s youth the opportunities they once had. Today, BUBA is making history with a model that allows athletes to earn free training and access throu

gh dedication and hard work, removing barriers that have kept too many kids on the sidelines. As a not-for-profit organization, the BUBA aims to set the standard for baseball instruction, teach and educate in Baltimore, and enhance the quality of life in the Urban community. Our initiatives are:

• Grow the games of baseball while cultivating diversity in all aspects of the game

• Make meaningful contributions to the development of urban communities

• Provide safe and organized recreational activities for urban youth

• Prepare urban high school players for college and professional baseball programs. Our coaching staff consists of highly experienced baseball personnel. We specialize in fundamental instruction by way of open workouts. Our workouts give members practical and theoretical training on the fundamentals of the game, while our educational component aids students in the classroom. We believe the skills learned in baseball and can be applied beyond the field, helping to shape a better community.

BUBA is now accepting “indications of interest” for its Summer Leadership Internship Program for high school students.

We are seeking high school students who want a meaningful summer opportunity to gain experience in youth sports, leadership, nonprofit programming, and community engagement. Interns will support BUBA’s summer activities and build skills that can be included on college, scholarship, and resume applications. We understand that many applicants have summer baseball commitments, and we will work to create schedules that fit those responsibilities. While we hope to provide small stipends, funding has not yet been confirmed.

Thank you for your interest in the BUBA Summer Leadership Internship Program. This application is for high school students interested in gaining meaningful summer experience in youth sports, leadership, and nonprofit programming. Please complete all questions thoughtfully. Baltimore baseball. Baltimore mentorship. Baltimore resilience.

While Baltimore City College was temporarily relocated during the renovation of its historic campus, the City College baseball team also lost consistent access to its home field and practice space.

That’s where BUBA stepped in.

This season, BUBA opened its doors each week to provide free indoor training space for the Knights to continue developing as a team. But something special happened in the process.

The City College players didn’t just train at BUBA — they became mentors. During workouts, they welcomed younger BUBA Scholar-Athletes onto the field, included them in drills, encouraged them, and led by example.

Think about that for a second.

A displaced public school baseball team, practicing inside a nonprofit training facility, opening up their workouts to mentor the next generation of Baltimore baseball players.

Honestly, we’re not sure something like this has ever happened before in America.

And now… they are champions.

Congratulations to the City College Baseball team on their second consecutive Baltimore City Championship! 🏆

The Knights defeated Poly 4-2 under the lights at Babb Field on the campus of Johns Hopkins University.

We are proud of this team, proud of these young men, and proud of what this partnership represented for Baltimore youth baseball.

This is bigger than baseball. ❤️⚾

We’re incredibly proud to share that Baltimore Urban Baseball Association (BUBA) has been selected as a grantee in the LISC x Foot Locker Foundation Community Empowerment Program.

LISC and the Foot Locker Foundation announced they’re deploying $1.26M in grants to 20 community organizations across 11 cities, bringing their total investment to $6.4M over five years—and we’re honored that Baltimore is included in this group of organizations doing the day-to-day work of building stronger, healthier futures for young people.

At BUBA, we see firsthand what happens when a young person has a safe place to go, consistent mentors, and a community that believes in them. Baseball and softball are the hook—but what we’re really building is confidence, discipline, leadership, accountability, and opportunity.

This grant will help us continue expanding access for youth and families who need it most—supporting programming that strengthens health outcomes, educational pathways, and long-term economic mobility right here in Baltimore.

Thank you to and the for investing in local leaders and choosing to stand behind community-based solutions. And thank you to every family, coach, mentor, donor, and volunteer who makes BUBA what it is. This recognition is a win for our kids and our city.

LISC and the Foot Locker Foundation are thrilled to continue our commitment to investing in youth programs. Now in the fifth year of the Community Empowerment Program, we're deploying $1.26M in grants to 20 community organizations across 11 cities. This latest round of grants brings our total investment to $6.4M over five years.

These local partners are strengthening health outcomes, expanding educational opportunities, and improving the economic outlook for youth every day. We're proud to support their work and the brighter futures they're helping build.
