Shay Sharpe's Pink Wishes

Shay Sharpe's Pink Wishes We educate, advocate, support and fulfill wishes of young women and kids affected by breast cancer. Young women can and do get terminal breast cancer!
(3)

Shay Sharpe's Pink Wishes grants wishes to young women, age 40 and under, who have been diagnosed with terminal breast cancer. In addition to granting wishes, SSPW shares resources, mentors, educates, provides scholarships, participates in numerous community initatives and fills whatever void that may be had, by those who have been affected by breast cancer. Through community advocacy, across the

US and globally and on social media forums, we educate our peers on the importance of knowing your body. Although we share information on all aspects of breast cancer, including screening, access to care and early detection, our primary concentrations are young women and metastatic breast cancer.

Good morning FB friends! On this day, 12 years ago, I was diagnosed with invasive ductal carcinoma (IDC), a few more biopsies and scans revealed stage IV de novo, hormone receptor negative, HER2 positive breast cancer with EXTENSIVE metastases scattered all over my lungs, scattered all over my liver and multiple bones including spine. Yes, I was stage IV from the very beginning!!!

I want to thank all of you who have been in my corner since day one! Words can’t express how grateful I am to have you in my life and I’m also grateful for the new friends I’ve met along this journey! I’m thankful that God revealed those “fair weather” friends because it’s times like these when you really find out who your true friends are! 😉

I could go on and on, but I’ll cut it short because I don’t want to get teary eyed! 😢 I’ll leave you with this...women AND men listen to your body. If you feel the need to get a second opinion please do so! You are your own best advocate!

It’s my 12th cancerversary, y’all! This walk is not easy at all, but it’s truly a blessing to still be here! 😇 Thank you, Lord! 🙌🏽👏🏽🙏🏼 ~ Carla

🙌🏽 PORT PLACED! Hopefully, I can get my annual Scans done soon.

My neck itches like a mf! 😖 Needless to say they couldn’t find a vein prior to surgery so I had to start the surgery fully awake and without pain meds and antibiotics. (Hello…. That’s why I’m here. My veins don’t work. 🤦🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️) On the bright side my prep room and surgery room had windows so the procedure didn’t seem as “stuffy” as usual.

Before surgery, my mom, the OG, , tied this scarf real tight so my wouldn’t be on my shoulders and my pastor said a little prayer to make sure I was covered.

After surgery, they immediately used the to run the antibiotics and gave pain meds. Thank God I was given an extra shot of pain meds before leaving as traffic was a mf and my mom just had to stop to get herself some ribs. 🙈 I also got to see my Middle School Bestie, Lady Bug, 🐞while there.

I’ve been advised to keep my cute ass still for a while. 🙄 No bathing. (I’m a bath girly🛀 !!) No driving. No lifting anything heavier than a gallon of milk. Take it easy… ~ Madame President

I keep forgetting that not everyone here is familiar with the term port, short for port-a-cath. I hope this helps.

Always somewhere NOT following directions 🤭.

For the 3rd time, recently, I’ve had to postpone my annual breast cancer CT scan, as we couldn’t get a vein. On this particular day at least 5 people tried to get a vein and I was stuck at least 15 times, in an attempt to add contrast for my full body CT scan.

Ever since my initial diagnosis in 2004, we have avoided using my left arm for ALL blood pressure readings, blood draws and contrast additions, first due to abscess then lymphedema. From 2004 to now I have been stuck more times than I can count, mostly all in my right arm, some appointments requiring me to be stuck over 20 times. My right arm is tired..

Tomorrow, I will have placed in my chest, to help ease up the stress that I have to keep undergoing on my right side. I would hate to be prolonging treatment if there is anything that needs to be treated, because I have to keep rescheduling my scans and multiple appointments due to the inability of not being able to access a vein.

✨ With that being said, do me a favor and . Send prayers that everything goes well tomorrow and I remain NED once we can finally undergo the CT Scan. ~ Madame President
