As we finish our look back on 2019, we want to thank all the local businesses and institutions who supported and partnered with us.

Meetings wouldn’t be as productive without Kibby's Restaurant and Lounge food, our events are more fun when Violetville School #226 students join in, candy from Rhebs Candy Company adds a sweetness to any get together, Saint Agnes Healthcare volunteers are always so energetic, Crown Gas is always willing to help, and we love the support from our local Giant Food Store.

Thank you for all you do to make our volunteer work more fun!

In early 2019 the Friends of Violetville Park Greggers Watershed Management Group collaborated on comments for the Lower North Patapsco and Baltimore Harbor Watershed. These comments helped prioritize projects in and around the park.

“These watershed plans impact improvements in your areas. Take a look and send in your comments. https://t.co/Wm831zBQXq”

Every now and then temporary basketball hoops arrive in Violetville Park. While many of us truly believe in the equipment fairy, 🧚‍♀️ these hoops are purchased and hoisted over the fence by volunteers to give neighborhood kids a safe place to play.

Play on kids!

Did you ever wonder how all the mulch gets to the playground? Several times a year the Friends of Violetville Park volunteers do playground maintenance, adding more mulch and noting any equipment repairs needed.

Huge thanks to our volunteers who take on mulch duty!

I CAN, You CAN, We all CAN recycle
with these Baltimore City recycling cans!

Thanks to a generous donation from our board members the Friends of Violetville Park were able to purchase seven recycling can and lid sets this year.

Several have been misappropriated, and spotted around the neighborhood. A few dog walkers keep insisting dog waste is recyclable (it’s not).

Otherwise, thanks to DPW and the Violetville teens who are maintaining the cans it’s working well. A cleaner park for everyone.

A lot of the hard work in the park is done by our younger Violetville residents (Violetvillians?).

Here’s a year-end shout out to all the teens and young adults who put the hard work into keeping the park clean and usable.

More of our year in review, here are some of the smiling faces from park events.

In 2019 the Friends of the Park Greggers Stream Watershed Management group finalized the Safe & Sound Program. Volunteers work with DPW Engineers to monitor the storm drains and inlets of concern, with inspections completed before all forecasted rainstorms.

Since the program was implemented there have been no storm related floods in Violetville! Before the program much of this water would have flooded streets and houses.
