Greetings from Chesapeake Ski for a joyous & peaceful holiday season! As this is the season of giving, we hope you will consider sponsoring a Baltimore area youth for our Youth & Family Day, Saturday, January 7th at Whitetail Mountain. In case you missed it, Chesapeake Ski and Sports Club has partnered with Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club to take some youth skiing and snowboarding. We kicked off our partnership with an essay contest at 3 Baltimore area locations (Baltimore City, Middle River and Glen Burnie). 8 youth have submitted essays and we would like to take them all!

$75 per child should cover the cost of skiing/snowboarding lessons, equipment rental and lunch. We will also be supplementing items of ski clothing as necessary. Please consider a full or partial sponsorship -- all interested can send a check made out to Chesapeake Ski & Sports Club to our PO Box 23883, Baltimore MD 21203 (Attn: Tracy Washington) -- make sure to indicate youth program donation on the check.

We are hoping to raise enough funds by December 19th so that we can notify the youth and their families before Christmas.

Chesapeake Ski & Sports Club is happy to announce the official launch of a multi-year partnership with the Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club (SABGC). Together we will take vulnerable youth from the greater Baltimore area to the slopes! It is our hope that this partnership will promote opportunities for youth to not only be exposed to the fun and benefits of getting outdoors and enjoying the winter, but also stimulate a broader influence. We believe that exposing these youth to such an experience will result in improved academic achievement, better behavior, as well as foster hope for a brighter future.

Our plan is to bring a handful of youth to Whitetail and/or Wisp Mountain during the 2011-2012 ski season. We will need to raise money to cover the cost of a learn-to-ski or snowboard package, along with supplemental items of ski clothing to help the youth be comfortable during their day on the snow.

To select the youth, we have asked interested middle and high school students who attend SABGC’s in Baltimore City, Glen Burnie and Middle River to submit essays by December 1st. Depending on how much we can raise, we will be selecting 6-10 youth based on their essay, their grades, and their club attendance.

How can YOU help?? YOU can help us raise $1000-$1500 to support this cause. If you are interested in sending in a donation, please send a check made out to CSSC and mail it to our PO Box (Chesapeake Ski & Sports Club, c/o Tracy Washington, PO Box 23883, Baltimore, MD 21203) and please indicate YOUTH DONATION on the check.

We will also be fundraising and accepting donations during our SKI 101 event this Saturday, November 12th at Princeton Ski & Sports Shop in Columbia, MD. Another form of contribution could be to purchase and donate ski/snowboard apparel such as fleece tops, fleece gators, 1st layer tops and bottoms, gloves/mittens, or hats in youth sizes.

We will select the contest winners in December and plan our day at the slopes for January – February 2012.

CSSC NBS Summit Package pricing has been posted: lodging in 3 or 4 Bedroom house or condo, NBS registration and discounted lift tickets (3 to 6 day option). Range depending on number of lift tickets reserved is: $785 to $890 per person/per pillow for Chesapeake Ski Club members. Non-member pricing is $840 to $940. Air and Airport transportation costs are not included (must reserve on your own). Initial reservation deposit due asap. Payment plan outlined on event posting.
