We know that politicians’ comments about our amazing city can raise our defenses and cause us to want to fight back. We can fight back with our words, as many have done this past weekend, highlighting all of the wonderful things about Baltimore and reasons to have hope beyond what others may see. But more importantly, let’s keep pouring into this city with our actions and energy - investing our time, creativity, prayers, presence, joy, and tears of lament into this place and these people that have a piece of our hearts. The question isn’t just “What do you love (feel) about Baltimore?” but “What can you DO to love (action) Baltimore?”

We care so much more about what Jesus thinks of Baltimore than what any politician thinks. Lord, have mercy and bring your shalom to Baltimore and to each of your image-bearers here. Use us to do it. Amen.
