Gram's Promise is very happy to announce that Prescilia Johnson from Clarksburg High School is our 2020 recipient of the Elizabeth Ann Frist Memorial Scholarship. Prescilia's anti-to***co work was most prevalent in both middle and high school, as well as during her time working at the Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington - Germantown Branch. In her role as the Club's Health and Wellness/Good Character & Citizenship Coordinator, she taught club members how to live healthy lives by staying away from to***co, drugs, and alcohol, and by eating healthy.

Please join Gram's Promise in congratulating Prescilia. Well done!

Another successful year helping the children at Kennedy Krieger with this year's tree raising $175 and marked sold soon after opening! What really meant a lot too was watching others touched by it as we saw quite a few people stop to look and take pictures. This year's tree was appropriately named, "My Country 'Tis of Tree". Special thanks to Steph Bagley for arranging this event for Gram's Promise.😃

Our 2018 "Elizabeth Ann Frist Memorial Scholarship" winner is Jane Bailey from Leonardtown High School. Jane's application was most impressive! In 2017, Jane worked closely with the St. Mary's County Health Department to further the priorities of the organization. As part of the To***co Free Living action team, she worked to reduce to***co use and exposure to secondhand smoke. In particular, Jane kick started the Smoke Free Holy Grounds Initiative by reaching out to more than 300 faith-based organizations throughout the county to provide the tools and expertise needed to promote health and wellness for their congregations. She developed surveys and constructed ready-made anti-smoking tool kits to be distributed at faith-based events, as well as pamphlets and flyers to inform congregations on the anti-to***co use programs provided by the department. To date, Smoke Free Holy Grounds has been fully implemented in more than 20 local faith-based organizations. Jane also assisted the St. Mary's County Health Department directly by administering a survey to high school students on their perspectives on smoking and va**ng. This information was used to assist the department with targeted advertising campaigns. Jane will be attending Baylor University this Fall.

Congratulations Jane!
