Remember that SUN Bucks benefits are available for 122 days from the date they’re issued, which is a shorter expiration timeline than SNAP benefits so please make sure to check your balances and use your SUN Bucks before they expire!

Beginning June 1, you may be eligible to receive additional benefits to buy food for a child who will not have access to school meals during the summer. Maryland’s new SuN Bucks meal program provides $40 per month for food for June, July, and August 2024 (totaling $120).

Join advocates, community organizations, and SNAP supporters for a National SNAP Week of Action beginning August 17 to demand that Congress reverse harmful cuts to SNAP.

Every month, an estimated 132,000 DC residents in 80,000 households rely on SNAP to help put food on the table. Cutting SNAP means families have less food on their tables and less money circulating in our local economy.

New data shows nearly 36,000 Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) recipients impacted by H.R. 1 restrictions have lost benefits. Maryland has seen fewer SNAP losses than many other states, in part because of efforts to reduce barriers and help eligible residents maintain access to benefits, including expanding the Maryland Benefits One Application, simplifying renewal forms, and growing SNAP employment and training partnerships.

“Maryland should be proud for the efforts that they’ve taken,” said DHS Assistant Secretary for Programs Larry Handerhan.
