St. Francis Neighborhood Center dismantles inequity by cultivating community connections through tailored education and social interventions for West Baltimore.

Francis Neighborhood Center is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3), community based organization in the Reservoir Hill area of Baltimore. Founded in 1963 as an outreach center for two local churches, the Center was incorporated in 1972 as a neighborhood nonprofit corporation, independent of any church affiliation. Since its inception, the Center has served as a a resource and catalyst for improving the lives o

f those in Reservoir Hill, and making Baltimore a better place. Our programs create an approach that builds self-esteem, personal strength, academic, emotional, interpersonal, social, and community development that work to address complex challenges in an effort to break through the cycles of urban poverty. In an average month, we serve over 300 adults, youth, and families. Francis Neighborhood Center has been the only enduring institution to serve this large and diverse community since the riots of 1968. Due to its unwavering dedication, the Center has become an iconic presence within the Reservoir Hill community.

There's a beautiful new addition to the walls at SFNC! 🎨

Thanks to our amazing friends at Art with a Heart, this community artwork was co-created by Constellation Energy employees and their mentees, who worked side by side to design and build city blocks with recycled materials to reflect shared ideas about the future.

Through Constellation's support, young artists at St. Francis Neighborhood Center had the opportunity to create their won city blocks inspired by sustainability. Together, these contributions highlight how sustainable choices help strengthen neighborhoods and build a more connected community.

This week, we wrapped up another amazing year of weekly Senior Socials with a close-out cookout! 🎉 Thank you to everyone who has helped strengthen this program - and the community it's cultivated!

Our friends at the Baltimore Social-Environmental Collaborative are hosting a community event THIS WEEKEND on Saturday, May 30th from 1-4 PM to design new signage for community weather stations like SFNC!

In case you missed it, we are now home to a weather-measuring instrument as part of the Baltimore Community Weather Network. The publicly-available data from this network are being used to map urban heat and rainfall, to evaluation urban models, and to access proposed mitigation strategies.
