Creating equitable access to music education for 15 years! 🎶

Under Marin Alsop’s artistic leadership and direction, and collaboration with several community partners (including Baltimore City Public Schools), OrchKids provides music education, instruments, academic instruction, meals, as well as performance and mentorship opportunities at no cost. OrchKids is inspired by Venezuela’s El Sistema, the music program that has transformed the lives of hundreds of

thousands of children in the country’s most impoverished areas. Currently, OrchKids works with eight public schools in Baltimore City, serving over 1,900 children from Pre-K through the tenth grade.

And they’re off! ✈️ the first groups of out-of-state summer camp students have checked in at and . Join us in wishing them luck as they spend a few weeks in beautiful Michigan making music with peers from all over!

A total of 42 OrchKids students are participating in similar camps across the country this summer! We’re so excited to hear what they learned and the fun they experienced when they return ☀️

Our OrchKids Symphonic Winds students brought the house down at yesterday’s Opening Session for the League of American Orchestras Conference! 🔥

The students performed "Fire," an original composition by the OrchKids Brass Band. We were lucky to also experience outstanding performances from the OrchKids Honor Strings and the Baltimore Symphony Youth Orchestras. Talk about starting Conference off on the right note! 🎵

Congrats to all our OrchKids, who wrapped up their spring semester last week with an incredible concert at the Meyerhoff.

And there’s more! Students will continue building leadership, creativity, and musical skills at the OrchKids Summer Program hosted here in Baltimore, and at music camps across the country.

We can’t wait to see all they learn, both as musicians and future leaders!
