Baltimore Youth Arts Baltimore Youth Arts is an arts education and job readiness program for youth, with a focus on those who have contact with the justice system.

Baltimore Youth Arts (BYA) provides arts programming to young people in Baltimore City, with a focus on those who have contact with juvenile and adult justice systems. Our mission is to assist youth in gaining creative, personal, and educational skills that will enable them to become leaders in their communities. BYA uses the arts to engage youth with the goal of building long-lasting, mentoring relationships. We provide artistic and entrepreneurial opportunities to youth so that they can hone their talents and use them to shape the world.We believe that the arts are a path towards social, emotional, and educational development. BYA is a program of Fusion Partnerships, Inc.

TODAY IS THE DAY! 🌊

This afternoon we’re unveiling Envisioning the Harbor, new public artwork created by Baltimore Youth Arts Apprentices for the National Aquarium’s Harbor Wetland exhibit. BYA youth artists spent the spring and summer designing, revising, and building this work together, and we are so excited to celebrate this project and this partnership with all of you.

Huge thanks to the National Aquarium team, Adrienne, Jennifer, and Ciara, for trusting BYA and our apprentices with this work. Thank you to the Baltimore Children & Youth Fund, the Abell Foundation, the Maryland State Arts Council, the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and the Thomas Wilson Foundation for their investment in our program. And thank you to our team: Dave, Pran, Brandon, Jasmine, and Shadi who made every class and every step of this possible.

Envisioning the Harbor 🌊

Save the date: on Saturday, October 10th, we’re headed to the National Aquarium’s Harbor Wetland exhibit to debut new artwork by BYA Studio Apprentices!

This spring and summer, 31 BYA Apprentices worked alongside BYA staff and with National Aquarium conservationists and educators to imagine what a healthy Inner Harbor could look like in 25, 50, and 100 years. Now it’s time to see what they made.

Come learn about the harbor, try your hand at printmaking, and hear directly from youth artists about their process and research.

Free and open to the public. No tickets, no registration, just come celebrate creativity, mentorship, and Baltimore’s future with us.

Last Friday night was proof of what’s possible when a community shows up for its youth. 🎉 Our showcase was nothing short of a success, and it was entirely youth-led, from start to finish. BYA Apprentices ran the whole night, and watching them own the stage, the mic, and the moment was the best way we could’ve asked to close out the summer.

To every guest, advisory board member, and family and friend who came out to support our youth, thank you. Your presence means everything.

A huge thank you to our funders, the Baltimore Children and Youth Fund, Bloomberg Philanthropies, and the Robert W. Deutsch Foundation, for believing in this work and making nights like this possible.

And to our partners at the National Aquarium, thank you for coming through and trusting us as partners. We’re so grateful for you.

Can’t believe we’re already in our final week! 🎉 Join us this Friday, July 31 from 5-7pm at the BYA Studio to hear from our summer apprentices and see what they’ve been building over the past two sessions in partnership with the National Aquarium.

This group has brought so much energy, curiosity, and heart to the studio. We’ve loved every minute of working with them. ✨Come celebrate them and see their work up close!

Week one of the BYA Studio Apprentice Program is in the books, and what a way to start. 💖

In just four days, we had our strongest youth orientation yet, visited the National Aquarium, and filled the studio with painting, drawing, digital illustration, and a lot of laughing. Watching these young artists show up and dive in is exactly what this work is about.

None of it would be possible without the Baltimore Children and Youth Fund Baltimore Children and Youth Fund , Bloomberg Philanthropies Bloomberg Philanthropies , and Youthworks whose support and partnerships made BYA’s summer 2026 programming possible.
