📣BYA is hiring — two roles, one big project! 🎨💻🧑🏾‍🎨

We’re looking for a Fine Art Facilitator and a Graphic Design Facilitator for our Spring and Summer 2026 sessions of the BYA Studio Apprentice Program.
Both roles facilitate project-based classes where youth develop a commissioned public art installation exploring how young people envision Baltimore’s Inner Harbor over the next century — in partnership with the National Aquarium. 🦦🐬

Both facilitators will work alongside apprentices from concept through design completion, collaborating with youth on the projects every step of the way. The Graphic Design Facilitator will also take the lead on final design, layout, and production of the coloring book, ensuring all deliverables are ready for print and meet spec for the commissioned project!

Both roles include documenting program activities and curating youth artwork along the way.
This is community-rooted, paid work. If you want to create something real and lasting with Baltimore youth — we want to hear from you. Link in bio to apply. More info on our website!

This past March, we expanded our long-standing partnership with the Maryland Department of Juvenile Services (DJS) and the DJS Innovation Team to bring art, collaboration, and creativity into juvenile facilities across Maryland to build relationships and improve facilities through collaborative mural-making.

We began this work at the Baltimore City Juvenile Justice Center (BCJJC), the same facility where BYA first began over a decade ago, by co-creating a mural with youth and staff.

Over 50 youth and staff came together to create a mural for the Visitation Holding Room, a space where families connect and programming takes place. After collaborating on a design and deciding on the theme Unity and Growth, the team is now painting!

The mural is led by BYA artists Stan Pearson and Gianna Rodriguez, as well as representatives from BCJJC administration and residential staff.

Huge thanks to the DJS Innovation Team, BCJJC staff, and all the youth who helped turn this vision into reality. 💛

If you’re an artist interested in getting involved in this project, please email [email protected] and share a bit about your work.

Stay tuned for more photos our current mural projects!

Urgent Call for Support!

Baltimore Youth Arts has some incredible partnerships and events coming up! We’re thrilled to begin working with Uplift Alliance (UA) as we take the next big step in our journey. With their support, we’ll be strengthening our policies and procedures to prepare for BYA’s long-term sustainability as an independent organization.

At the same time, we’re facing a critical transition. Our fiscal sponsor, Fusion Partnerships, is dissolving, which means we must act fast to secure BYA’s future. To do this, we are raising $60,000 to cover essential operating costs while we move to a new fiscal sponsor and take the necessary steps to become an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit.

Funding Timeline

🖤 $25,000 by March 11, 2025 – To cover immediate operational needs and ensure our programs continue without disruption.
🖤 $60,000 by April 1, 2025 – To secure the resources needed for a smooth transition and long-term sustainability.

Why This Matters

Your support will help us:
🖤 Keep our programs running for youth across BYA programs.
🖤 Ensure a smooth transition as we move to a new fiscal sponsor and prepare for 501(c)(3) status.
🖤 Lay the foundation for the future, so BYA can continue serving young people without disruption.

How You Can Help! 💕

🖤 Donate Today – Every dollar helps! Consider becoming a monthly donor.
🖤 Spread the Word – Share this campaign with your network.
🖤 Host a Fundraiser – Get creative, rally support, and collaborate with BYA youth and staff!

Your support means everything. Together, we can ensure that BYA continues empowering young people through the arts for years to come.
