Early voting has started for the MD primaries and goes until June 18. Check out this local voting guide. There are a number of competitive primaries this year!

Voters in Maryland will decide the state’s next governor and vote in congressional races as well as in local and state races, including contests for county executive, county councils, the General Assembly, sheriff and register of wills.

Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (or TANF) is supposed to be a financial lifeline for Maryland's poorest families. But a recent investigation shows that only about 25% of funds are distributed as direct cash assistance.

As part of the fortunate 6%—those still in a union—I have had access to a good living wage, healthcare and now a viable pension to sustain me and my wife in our later years.

The USA is the richest country in the world and by numerous metrics, we are, in fact, number one. Of all the developed nations we are number one: number one in personal bankruptcies, with over 1/2 million this year, and most of those due to health expenses; number one in gun related deaths; and number one in homelessness and incarceration rates. The has the moral fortitude to address these issues head-on, that is why I got involved with this most important organization.
