It is with a very heavy heart that I share this heartbreaking news.

On Saturday night, the Ban Mae Tam community experienced an unimaginable tragedy. A truck left the roadway and crashed into the home of one of our scholarship students. Eleven-year-old Preem was asleep in his bedroom when the truck struck the house. He was killed instantly. The incident is now under investigation by provincial authorities.

There are simply no words to express the sorrow felt by Preem's family, his friends, his community, and all of us at the Lanna Thai Children's Fund.

Preem was one of our very first scholarship recipients four years ago. He was a bright, hardworking young man who loved learning. Every time I visited Ban Mae Tam, he would proudly greet me with a few new English phrases he had been practicing. He dreamed of becoming a doctor, and I truly believe he had the intelligence, determination, and heart to make that dream a reality.

He was also a devoted grandson, always helping his grandmother and willingly lending a hand to others in his community. His kindness, warm smile, and gentle spirit touched everyone who knew him.

Please keep Preem's family and the people of Ban Mae Tam in your thoughts and prayers during this incredibly difficult time. His young life ended far too soon, but he will never be forgotten.

Several people have already asked how they can help. In response, LTCF has established a memorial fund to assist Preem's family with funeral expenses and immediate needs. If you feel moved to honor his memory, you may make a donation through our website or PayPal. Most importantly, we ask that you keep his family in your prayers.

This morning students of Huai Ian School are engaged in collecting peppers and eggplants from the garden to promote nutritious cafeteria lunches, with other students dedicated to upkeep tasks in different parts of the garden. Progress is evident in both gardening projects, underscoring the effectiveness of our sustainability initiatives, and we extend our thanks to our donors for their generous support.

Today was a wonderful and meaningful day at Hua Ian School as the children received new school uniforms, shoes, and rice for the upcoming school term. Seeing their smiles, excitement, and pride reminds us why these efforts are so important.

For many families in the rural communities of Northern Thailand, the beginning of a new school year can bring financial hardship. A new uniform, proper shoes, and basic food support help ease that burden and allow the children to begin the term with confidence, dignity, and hope.

We would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all of our generous donors whose kindness and compassion continue to make these programs possible. Your support reaches far beyond material gifts — you are helping provide opportunity, encouragement, and a brighter future for these children.

We also wish to sincerely thank our incredible Thai staff and local volunteers who work behind the scenes organizing, delivering, and caring for the children and families we serve. Their dedication and love for the community are at the heart of everything we do.

As a new school term begins in Northern Thailand, all of us at Lanna Thai Children’s Fund would like to warmly welcome the children back to both Huai Ian and Ban Mae Tam schools! 📚✏️

There is nothing more inspiring than seeing smiling faces, hearing laughter in the classrooms, and knowing these children are beginning another year filled with learning, friendship, and opportunity.

As we start this new term, we are also launching our School Uniform Drive for the children of Huai Ian School. Many families in the rural mountain communities struggle with the cost of proper school clothing and shoes, and we want to help ensure every child can attend school with dignity and confidence.

We are currently seeking sponsors for 15-20 school uniforms.

Each uniform package costs $25 and includes:
👕 School shirt
👖 Pants or skirt
👟 Shoes

For many of these children, something as simple as a uniform can make all the difference in being able to attend school comfortably and proudly.

As Songkran draws near, I find myself thinking of all of you—our family, friends, and generous supporters—and feeling deeply grateful. I wish each of you a peaceful and joyful holiday.

In a world that can feel uncertain at times, this is a moment to slow down, reflect, and appreciate the many blessings we share. May we continue to lead with kindness, offer gratitude where it is due, and hold onto a shared hope for peace and harmony.

Over the past three years, Lanna Thai Children’s Fund has been able to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. None of this would be possible without your support, your encouragement, and your belief in what we are trying to do. Your kindness has carried us forward, and for that, I am truly thankful.
