Sometimes, one moment can change the way we see ourselves.

For Nancy, that moment came early in her P2P journey — when she realized she had found a community that understood not just where she had been, but where she was going.

As Nancy shared:

"Right then, I knew I was with my people. I knew I was amongst those that understood my journey, have worn my shoes, and are managing to propel themselves onward and upward through this awesome program, towards a better life."

We’re building a home. Now we’re building the team that will help make it a place for transformation.

From Prison Cells to PhD (P2P) is hiring mission-driven professionals to join our growing Transitional Housing Program in Baltimore City, supporting women impacted by incarceration and substance use as they rebuild their lives and return to their communities.

We’re looking for people who understand that reentry is about more than coming home. It’s about having the support, stability, relationships, education, and opportunity to build something different.

We’re currently hiring:

• Clinical Case Manager
• Peer Recovery Specialist
• Residential Support Coordinator (House Manager)

These positions are funded through the Baltimore City Mayor’s Office of Recovery Programs and offer an opportunity to do work that reaches far beyond a job description.

We finally got to take the P2P family inside. 🏡❤️

There was a lot of excitement, a lot of smiling, and probably a few moments where we all stopped and thought, “Wow. We actually did this.”

P2P now has its second transitional home—and this one will create a safe and stable place for women rebuilding their lives after incarceration and the opioid epidemic and their children.

But there's an important difference between owning a house and creating a home.

That's where YOU come in.

We're beginning the process of turning this space into a warm, welcoming home, and we're looking for community members who want to help.

We need donations of furniture, household essentials, children's items, and other necessities for the women and children who will eventually live here.

Every donated item can help make an unfamiliar space feel a little more like home.

This isn't just P2P's house.

It's a community investment in second chances, stronger families, and new beginnings.

We'll be sharing more details soon about exactly what we need and how you can help.

The house is ours.

🎓 Fifty.

Cohort 50 is almost here—and this isn't just another graduation.

This is a milestone.

On September 12, we'll celebrate the 50th cohort of scholars who have walked through the P2P journey carrying their own stories, challenges, hopes, and ambitions—and walked out with something new to add to those stories.

Leadership.

Education.

Purpose.

Possibility.

For 50 cohorts, our scholars have reminded us that a person's past can shape their story without having the final word.

And while we're celebrating how far we've come, we're already looking toward what's next.

Cohort 51 is waiting in the wings.

The women of Maryland Correctional Institution for Women will soon continue the story, proving once again that when one cohort finishes the journey, another is ready to begin.

That's the beauty of this work.

The story doesn't end at graduation. It gets passed forward.

Reentry works better when we stop working in silos.

That was one of the biggest takeaways from the 5th Annual Reentry United Conference at Grand Valley State University in Michigan.

From lived experience leaders and advocates to educators, workforce professionals, researchers, and community organizations, the room was full of people doing the work—and looking for better ways to do it together.

P2P was proud to be part of that conversation.

Dr. Stan, Judith Negon, and Dr. Kelsie Becklin spent the day connecting with attendees, sharing their stories, and signing copies of Breaking Chains, Building Futures—a collection of firsthand stories about incarceration, transformation, education, and the road forward. And yes, the audiobook is now available, so you can take those stories with you wherever you go.

Meanwhile, Mickey Saine joined Dr. Stephanie Fleming and Troy Carr for a conversation about an emerging AI-powered approach to employment support—helping system-impacted individuals navigate career documents and the employment journey from beginning to end. The conference program specifically featured their session, Paper Armor: How AI-Powered Career Documents Turn Criminal Records, Addiction Recovery, and Employment Gaps into Launchpads.

That's what makes spaces like Reentry United matter.

Different experiences. Different expertise. Different approaches.

One shared goal: breaking barriers and building pathways home.
