Students have access to computers in every classroom that have internet access. Every child, at every grade level, has access to a computer. We also have three mobile "wireless computer lab" carts that can be moved from room to room as need arises. Teachers use Best Practices when integrating technology into instruction for curriculum enhancement. FSK offers a strong, diverse arts program and a va

riety of sports and extracurricular activities and programs. Our progress can be seen in our continually rising "standardized" test scores and our Maryland School Assessment (MSA) scores, which continue to surpass the city average. FSK serves a diverse population of students, which includes a special needs population. To accommodate the needs of all of these students, we employ a variety of technology aids. In art, music, physical education, and in other classrooms at FSK, teachers and students are infusing technology into their daily lessons.

Our Story

Francis Scott Key Elementary/Middle School is a Pre-K through 8 school located near Baltimore’s Inner Harbor in Locust Point. Our mission is to build inspired, engaged, and well-rounded students who are prepared for competitive high schools and colleges, meaningful careers, and deeply understand the world around them.

Our elementary school features smaller class sizes to ensure students receive more individualized instruction. Our Middle School is one of five schools that offer advanced academics and is part of the Middle School choice process.

In the 2017-18 school year, FSK was one of four schools to receive the Maryland State Department of Education and State Advisory Council on Gifted and Talented Education’s EGATE award, honoring schools with excellent gifted and talented programs that align with state guidelines and regulations.

We believe in reaching all students through a challenging curriculum, intervention, and a system of supports for all learners.
