This August, Baltimore Irish Music School’s Under 12 and Under 15 céilí bands will travel to Belfast to compete at Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, the world’s largest celebration of Irish traditional music.

After earning first place at the Mid-Atlantic Fleadh, these students have the opportunity to represent North America, learn from some of Ireland’s finest musicians, and take part in a tradition that has connected communities through music for generations.

As a nonprofit, we’re committed to making Irish music accessible and ensuring these opportunities remain within reach for our students and families.

If you’d like to help send these young musicians to Belfast—and support the future of Irish traditional music in our community—we welcome both one-time gifts and monthly support.

Tunes by ear in under an hour ✨ these students are learning John Mchugh’s Jig!

In Ireland, it is common for children to begin their instruction on the tin whistle, and we align with this by starting new students off in the group tin whistle class to learn the fundamentals of the instrument, train the ear and provide a fast start to getting started in Irish music!

They’ve been working hard all week and into this weekend—wish them luck!

At Baltimore Irish Music School, Community is learning and growing side by side.

Tradition is carrying the music forward and honoring those that have passed it on.

And craic—the Irish Gaelic word, pronounced “crack”—is the joy, fun, and shared spirit that makes the whole thing worth doing. ♥️

We gathered this week for a Family Céilí with family and friends. Not only does this serve as a community event, our families and students become friends and comrades as they learn, play and dance together through the years.

We hope you and yours have a wonderful season ♥️
