Last night, ECYP Junior and Senior Fellows came together for the first time—and what a great way to kick off the year! 🎉

Fellows participated in icebreakers and team-building activities, set expectations for the year ahead, and most importantly, began building the connections and community that make ECYP so special. Of course, no ECYP gathering is complete without pizza! 🍕

Here’s to a meaningful year of growth, leadership, friendship, and shared experiences! 💜

What a week! ECYP Executive Director Kathleen and BJC Community Relations Director Megan spent Tuesday and Thursday at the Chase Your Dream Academy basketball camp. This important partnership focused on bringing concepts of belonging and peace-building to kids at the camp. It was an exciting few days, capped off with a visit from ECYP’s own Jaxon, who shared his ECYP experience and volunteered with the kids.

Last night, ECYP Fellows, families, board and supporters came together for our annual Welcome Back Event and once again, our Fellows reminded us of the power of a story.

Standing before a room filled with family, friends, and supporters, they shared reflections from their summer travels through Eastern Europe, speaking from the heart, without notes, and with courage.

From Auschwitz to moments of connection, photography, and wrestling with the lessons of history, their stories offered powerful reminders of why we travel, learn, and listen.

This tradition, inspired by Congressman Elijah E. Cummings’ extraordinary gift for storytelling, continues to carry his legacy forward, one young storyteller at a time.

Tomorrow is ECYP’s Welcome Back and a day that always reminds us of the late Congressman Elijah E. Cummings.

Congressman Cummings understood the power of a story. He knew that our stories can connect us, challenge us, and inspire us to build bridges.

Tomorrow, our students will take the stage through our partnership with Stoop Storytelling to share their stories, find their voices, and grow as leaders.

As we listen to their stories, we will carry forward Congressman Cummings’ legacy and his belief in the power of young people to change the world.

His voice may be gone, but his belief in the next generation lives on.

On Friday afternoon, ECYP board members gathered to connect, reflect, and celebrate the work we do together.

We were excited to welcome ECYP’s new Board Chair, Andrew Dansicker, and express our deep gratitude to Past Board Chair Michael Ward for his leadership and dedication to ECYP.

Our Board plays an essential role in advancing ECYP’s mission. Their leadership, guidance, connections, and commitment help ensure that we can continue preparing young people to be bridge builders and leaders in their communities.

We are grateful for the leadership that has brought us this far and excited for what’s ahead!

As Congressman Elijah Cummings taught us, we must focus on what unites us rather than what divides us.

Whether walking through the history of Eastern Europe or traveling across the American South, our Fellows learn that understanding the stories of different communities is a powerful step toward building bridges.

Together, we can carry Congressman Cummings' vision forward for generations to come.

ECYP and The Baltimore Jewish Council were thrilled to join Associated Black Charities and The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore for Dinner, Diversity & Dialogue at Baltimore Unity Hall.

Kathleen, ECYP's Executive Director and a Rekindle facilitator, shared about Rekindle, a Black-Jewish dialogue initiative, and had the joy of reconnecting with Rekindle alumni whose leadership and commitment to dialogue continue to inspire us.

The evening was a powerful reminder of what's possible when people come together with openness, curiosity, and a shared commitment to building stronger communities. We're grateful to have been part of such a meaningful night of connection, conversation, and hope.
