Yesterday, the Ascension Saint Agnes Foundation hosted its third annual World Gratitude Day Luncheon, a powerful reminder of the impact gratitude has on our daily lives. Each year, this gathering inspires attendees to reflect on their own gratitude moments while reinforcing Ascension Saint Agnes’ deep commitment to a culture of gratitude, connection, and celebration.

The program featured inspiring remarks from Beau Higginbotham, President and Chief Executive Officer; Dr. Rohit Gulati, Chief Medical Officer; and Aaron Piccirilli, Vice President of Philanthropy. The highlight of the event was a moving address by Shelby Bennoit, a 23-year-old breast cancer survivor. Shelby shared her courageous care journey, expressing heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses, patient navigators, and family members who stood by her side. She reflected on how her diagnosis reshaped her perspective, brought to light a newfound love for her faith, and left her deeply grateful for life’s simple pleasures, as she steps into a future filled with love and joy.

Did you know that the Cancer Institute at Ascension Saint Agnes is celebrating its 2️⃣5️⃣th anniversary this year? It’s an exciting and special time, as we reflect back on our achievements and look forward to the continuous delivery of the very best in cancer care, in the years to come. 🙏

Some members of our oncology team recently took a trip down “memory lane,” with a goal to help us identify historical photos that can be used at our upcoming celebratory events. There were lots of laughs, lots of memories shared, and lots of reminders of just how special our Cancer Institute is for every person who walks through our doors. 💝

Today we’d like to express our gratitude to our friends from the Zeta Phi Beta Baltimore Sorority. As part of their community outreach efforts, they donated care kits to patients receiving treatment at the Ascension Saint Agnes Cancer Institute. Each care kit included a comfortable blanket, snacks, and well wishes from sorority members - several of whom are survivors themselves 🙏

Meet Shelby. She was just 22 years old when out of nowhere, she felt a lump in her breast. Shelby was ultimately diagnosed with breast cancer and turned to the cancer experts at Ascension Saint Agnes for what ultimately proved to be lifesaving care.

Today, Shelby is reflecting back on her journey with gratitude for the many doctors, nurses, patient navigators, and other staff members who cared for her clinically, compassionately, and holistically. She also credits her village of family members and loved ones who never left her side, shaved their heads too, and fought alongside her - from the day she was diagnosed through the day she was deemed cancer free.

Today we are putting the spotlight on our friends from Five Star Federal Credit Union, a longstanding and valued partner of Ascension Saint Agnes, with a meaningful on-site presence through their branch located on our hospital campus.

This year, Five Star officially joined our Corporate Partners Program. They made a generous multi-year pledge of $50,000 over five years in support of the Daughters of Charity Fund—an essential resource that provides financial assistance to associates facing unexpected hardship. Their support directly impacts the well-being of our workforce, ensuring that those who dedicate their lives to caring for others are supported in times of need.

In addition to their financial commitment, Five Star has extended their partnership through active engagement in our community initiatives. Most recently, they stepped forward to support our upcoming Medical Mission at Home event by providing giveaway items, helping us create a welcoming and impactful experience for vulnerable members of our community.
