🎗️ Michael Henley’s powerful story is a testament to the life-saving impact of the right care at the right time. After a grueling 12-hour "Mother of All Surgeries" (CRS with HIPEC) for a rare appendix cancer, Michael is back where he belongs—cherishing every moment with his wife and four beautiful children. ❤️ Far too many people receive an abdominal cancer diagnosis without ever hearing about the advanced treatment options that could save their lives. Let’s change that! 🙏✨

Research - The Hidden Cost of Cancer Care: How Financial Stress Affects Recovery. The hidden costs of cancer care extend far beyond the hospital walls, as financial toxicity can create a cycle of stress that directly impacts recovery and overall well-being. 📉 Awareness of the financial burden—ranging from high out-of-pocket costs to lost wages—is the first step in navigating a complex healthcare system. This is where the power of self-advocacy becomes a game-changer; by conducting your own research into financial assistance programs, insurance policies, and clinical trial grants, you can proactively alleviate some of the burdens that hinder healing. 🩺 Taking control of your financial health is not just about logistics—it’s about protecting your peace of mind so you can focus on what truly matters: getting better. 🎗️💪

Research! New Treatment Strategy for Gastric Cancer That Has Spread to the Peritoneum. New research is transforming the outlook for gastric cancer that has spread to the peritoneum, shifting the narrative from palliative care to proactive, multimodal treatment! 🌟 Traditionally, systemic chemotherapy has struggled to reach the abdominal lining, but a promising new strategy—highlighted by the Abdominal Cancers Alliance—combines traditional chemo with intraperitoneal chemotherapy delivered directly to the abdomen. 🩺 This dual approach can shrink tumors more effectively, sometimes making patients eligible for life-extending cytoreductive surgery and HIPEC. Staying informed about these emerging therapies is a vital part of self-advocacy; by performing your own research and understanding the latest clinical trials like STOPGAP, you empower yourself to have more informed discussions with your medical team and pursue every available option for care. Knowledge is more than power—it’s a pathway to hope. 🎗️📖
